Features and Specifications

The phone weighs 128g which makes it too light handset with larger screen of 5inch which is IPS LCD Capacitive Touch screen carrying 16M colors. The screen has been given Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection along with multi-touch facility. RAM provided to it is 1GB and the internal storage comes in 4GB which can be further extendable using microSD card up to 32GB. It also has two cameras, the rear one is 8MP with autofocus feature and LED flash light along with many other features like Geo-tagging, face detection, touch focus, panorama and HDR. The front camera is limited to 0.2MP and used for fallacies. The OS here is an older one i.e. ColorOS v1.0.0i based on Android v4.2 Jelly Beans while the processor is 1.3GHz Quad-core. The battery is of non-removable 2000mAh Li-ion. The connectivity features are GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, microUSB and 3G.

Design and Quality

The phone carries in typical Oppo packaging having white box that carries Oppo logo on its top. The build of the device is very nice. The phone doesn’t feel heavy and fits perfectly nice in hand. The screen though is not full HD but qHD is also nicely integrated here. The phone provides decent grip. Towards the front, there is an earpiece grill on the top and to its right is the front facing camera. At the lower bottom resides the three capacitive navigation buttons. The power button is located at the left side. At the top there is also 3.5mm headphone jack and the volume rocker is situated towards the left. The microUSB port is situated at the bottom. The back camera resides at the middle of the back and the LED flash below the camera. The back cover has diamond cut design as called by Oppo placed below the plastic panel.

OS and Tech

The OS this device runs is Color OS v1.0.0i which is based on an old Android OS i.e. v4.2 Jelly Beans. Though the performance remains smooth with this OS but under heavy multitasking the performance degradation is clearly observed. The ColorOS does somewhat better job here but Oppo needs to upgrade the OS to give it flawless performance.

Camera and Multimedia

Though the rear camera has limited resolution but Oppo has integrated 2nd-gen BSI CMOS sensor of Sony which is a good thing. The camera does a decent job. The day time picture are of good quality and even some images of night time are also outstanding though the camera doesn’t perform well always for the night shots. The front camera has limited functionality and its performance is not up to the mark. The rear camera also records decent quality videos but the movements are prominent if done in fast mode.

Battery and Memory

The battery provided is sufficient for the day long use under normal conditions but for heavy mobile users, who prefer enjoying heavy games, downloads etc. need to recharge it at least once in mid-day. The RAM is limited to 1GB and the internal storage is also reduced here to 4GB even though it is further extendable up to 32GB. Due to limitations in internal storage, many apps may not get installed to internal storage but the phone allows installation on secondary storage. The limited RAM also affects the performance of the device.

For pros:

For cons:

·         Auto brightness of the phone is not good

·         Old OS which needs upgradation

·         Many preinstalled apps are there in device taking a lot of space

·         Low RAM and memory

Verdict

Many people though love Oppo Find 5 Mini for its solid grip and beautiful design. But the performance gets disturbed due to many factors like limited RAM, OS and processor. The rear camera though works nicely but the front camera has no performance at all. Even then the price is set high for the device.
