Samsung is considered as one of the leading technology name especially when it comes for mobile phones. Samsung is equally now concentrating in making devices which are price effective as well and majority of its recent releases have seen price drops which is a positive sign from the company. Recently it released another new flagship with the name Galaxy Note 3 Neo and it has been analyzed as one of the best among all slots from Samsung. The phone has the potential to catch eyes and success but this time the price is set too high.

Features and Specifications

The phone weighs 162.5g with a larger screen of 5.5-inch. The screen has used Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen technology with 16M colors. It also offers multi-touch facility. The RAM is 2GB and the internal storage is 16GB out of which 11GB is available to user while it can also be extended up to 64GB through microSD card. The device comes with two cameras. The rear camera is 8MP with multiple features like LED flash, autofocus, Geo-tagging, face/smile detection, touch focus, HDR and panorama. While the front camera is 2MP used for fallacies. The OS used here is Android v4.3 Jelly Beans which is upgradable to Android v4.4.2 KitKat while the processor which gives it power is of 1.7GHz quad-core. The battery life is improved and is 3100mAh Li-ion. The connectivity features are GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, microUSB, and 2G/3G/4G.

Design and Quality

The look of Galaxy Note 3 Neo is almost similar to Note 3 but it is little lighter than its predecessor even though it is not slim. The set has been given matt chrome finish which looks very pleasant which is not found in previous Samsung designs. The IR port is located at the top of the phone while the S Pen is at the around the back. The cover is faux leather. The camera has been dropped to 8MP but the front camera has been increased to 2MP. The display size has also been reduced from its predecessor and there is a thin bezel around it. The phone overall use is very comfortable. The power button is placed at the left and can be easily reached with thumb. The volume rocker is placed at the right.

OS and Tech

Users were expecting KitKat here but it has been received with little surprise when Android v4.3 Jelly Beans has been seen in the set but the good thing is that it can be upgraded to Android v4.4.2 KitKat. Jelly Beans though does provide better performance and nice ratio of multitasking but it cannot be matched with latest version of KitKat.

Camera and Multimedia

The back of the phone has 8MP camera having Back Side Illuminated sensor. The overall performance of the camera is satisfactory but under dim light or indoor shooting, there is little noise observed. The performance though gets excelled in HDR and macro mode. The video recording done through the camera is also of acceptable quality. The front camera is used for video calls and does its purpose very well.

Battery and Memory

3100mAh battery means it can easily last for 2 days at maximum even under heavy use. The larger screen even doesn’t make the battery discharged quickly. The phone doesn’t get heat up quickly and thus is considered as energy efficient device under if continuous video recording has been done. It has successfully passed battery test and the battery is classic here. The RAM is also good of 2GB and the internal storage is 16GB and 11GB out of this is readily available to user. This much battery is a plus point about the phone. The memory can also be further extended to 64GB with the help of microSD card.

Even though with high prices, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo is a wonderful invention and a good choice for mobile lovers. The main observable issue with the device is the performance lags due to old OS and not optimized firmware. This may reduce the device sales and Samsung need to fix these issues on urgent basis. With an OS upgrade, the device would be the best choice for many smartphone lovers and may leave no bounds un-turned in success. Overall the device is perfect.
