Sony Xperia E1, the most affordable smartphone released by Sony in January 2014 comes with a lot of features more than just an attractive price. A smart, good looking handset comes with a charger, earphones and a manual. Initially released with a single SIM slot but, soon the manufacturers released Sony Xperia E1 Dual with dual SIM slots. This single SIM smartphone comes with a TFT capacitive touchscreen with a multi-touch feature (2 fingers). 4.0 inches screen and a resolution of WVGA(480x800 pixels), gesture input and shake control. It has a touch panel cover glass PMMA. Built on the widely used Android operating system having the v4.3 (Jelly Bean), 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8210, dual core processor, 512 MB RAM and 4GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD card. The screen displays 16 M colors and it has a primary camera of 3.15 MP with HDR, geo-tagging and face detection. Its battery has a standby of 55 hours (2G) and 454 hours on (3G). As far as the connectivity goes, it comes with Bluetooth 4.0, WLAN (Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot), 3G and 2G. It includes some other very prominent and quite interesting features which might be a reason for a great attraction of the users such as 3D and motion gaming, audio recording, smart connect, handwriting recognition and voice input. This smartphone also has some basic handy features which are a necessity for any kind of cellphone like calculator, calendar, timer and MMS enabled.
Design and Quality
This ultra-affordable, super stylish smartphone comes in mainly three colors white, black and purple. It is rectangular shaped and a little curved at edges which make it easy to hold and the corners don’t hurt the palm. Dimensions are 118x62.4x12 mm. It’s quite light and easy to handle and weighs only 120 grams. The whole case is made up of rather very light plastic material and the back cover pops off easily and we can see the battery, SIM, and SD card slot. The logo of Sony is in the center on the back of the case beneath the camera and the speakers are located at the bottom of the back case. Most functions work from the touchscreen but a circular power button is located on the left side of the case and rectangular shaped volume keys are just above the power button. Another button is on the top of the cellphone which is the Walkman app button and pressing it launches directly the Walkman app, the ultimate music experience.

Sony introduced the battery stamina mode for this smartphone to increase battery time which is quite effective because it saves battery drain by turning off the apps not being used in the background which causes a lot of battery drainage. 512 MB RAM in Xperia E1 causes the handset to work and process things a little slow but in a manageable way. The internal memory is 4GB which is expandable up to 32 GB using a micro SD card. The internal is quite enough for a 512 MB RAM smartphone.

The Sony Xperia E1 gives quite a tough competition to its competitors mainly Nokia Lumia 520 and Motorola Moto E because both of them are also first budget smartphones for their respective brands. Sony has tried to put a step forward in the smartphone market by launching Sony Xperia E1 which is a cost effective and a power packed smartphone which grabs attention of the people significantly for its good looks, reliability and powerful speakers. Sony has a long way to go and the reaction of the people is yet to be observed which will decide the future of this amazing smartphone brand.
