Karbonn is the hardware partner for Microsoft to use its Windows Operating System in its phones. A99 Star belongs to the Karbonn Smart series of phones.

Karbonn A99 Star is a Dual SIM phone. The phones has 3.97 inch Capacitive Touchscreen with the resolution of 480 x 800. It is powered by Android Operating System version 4.2 which is called as Jellybean. There is no Java support. Internal Memory is 4GB which is expandable up to 32GB through memory slot provided. Primary is of resolution 5MP the Secondary Camera is of resolution 0.3MP. RAM is 512MB. Dual Core Processor is tweaked at the speed of 1.3GHz. Wi-Fi with latest standards is available along with the GPS Connectivity. Bluetooth and USB with Micro-USB Connectivity give you more Connectivity options. FM Radio feature is there. Karbonn A99 Star is built with plastic mostly. The phone doesn't have any premium feel to it. The display is 3.97 inch Capacitive Touch Screen which is not exciting like its competitors like Lenovo A328 which has an IPS LCD display. There is no menu button, instead you have three touch buttons for navigation. The phone fits well in the hand and is convenient to operate the phone with one finger. The build quality looks sturdy.

The phone is powered by Android Operating System version 4.2, Jellybean. Jellybean gives you smooth user experience with fluid user interface. Almost all applications in the Play Store will be supported by this phone. There is no dedicated Graphics Processing Unit which is not a complaint considering the price. 1.3GHz Dual Core Processor with 512 RAM gives you a smooth experience without much lagging but suffers  lagging sometimes when Multitasking heavily due to the low RAM. Secondary Camera is a bit disappointing as it has the resolution of 0.3 MP, which is VGA. Quality selfies cannot be taken with this VGA Camera. Karbonn Android One Sparkle V scores another point here with its good front Camera with the resolution of 2MP. The Music player has easy to use User Interface. Buy this if you want a phone with basic requirements having a good battery backup. VGA front camera is a minus for this phone. Other than that, everything looks good.
