Lenovo S650 Mobile Price in India
Lenovo phone have similarity in design and this has been observed in its various releases. This similarity in design has made it a design language for the company and it seems that it wants to be differentiated from its competitors on basis of peculiar design. Lenovo S650 has also a similar design to all of its successors. Though S series from Lenovo is new to market but they are widely known for their style and slimness. Lenovo S650 is slimmer, stylish and lighter having only 8.8mm thickness. Many features like 1.3GHz processor and Dual SIM features categorize it among top mid-range smartphone.
Features and Specifications
The set is powered by 1.3GHz quad core processor and 1GB RAM. The screen is not very large though it is large and is 4.7inch with capacitive display technology and 16M colors. The internal storage is 8GB but it can be extended up to 32GB using microSD card. The rear camera is 8MP having LED flash, auto focus, touch focus, Geo-tagging, face detection and HDR features. The front camera is VGA. The connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS and 2G/3G. The battery provided to it is 2000mAh. The OS here though is old i.e. Android v4.2 Jelly Beans.
Design and Quality
The overall design and shape of the S650 set is similar to Lenovo Vibe Z. The set has faux textured metallic finish on its exterior and a silver trim on the bottom. This design looks somehow stunning at times but not always. The volume rocker is located on the rights side while the power button can be found on the top with the 3.5mm headset jack and the USB slot is located at the bottom. The back camera is situated in the center towards the back of the phone. The design of the camera is not ideal as it is prone to scratches and it may get damaged it placed on surface. But this problem is nicely resolved by the company by providing accessory in shape of skeleton case of sorts. The screen is nice enough but it is not full HD and provides only qHD but it is quite successful in generating vibrant colors and works perfectly fine even under bright sunlight.
OS and Tech
The OS here is old i.e. Android v4.2 Jelly Beans but it is also equipped with LeWa OS which had been provided in Vibe Z as well. LeWa OS puts all apps on main but due to old OS, the performance of the phone may see lags when trying to cope with heavy apps. Lenovo need to bring a quick upgrade to its OS.
Camera and Multimedia
The 8MP back camera provided here is fairly working for daily use. Good colors and crunchy images have been observed by it. The camera does some struggle under too much heavy light or poor light. Image quality can be enhanced with some built-in features like HDR, self-timer, Smile correction and by using panorama option. The front camera which is of 0.3MP VGA is not of good quality and it doesn’t perform as it has to be or as it was expected of Lenovo’s device cameras. The video recording being done through the rear camera is also of average quality.
Battery and Memory
The battery life of Lenovo S650 is not very impressive as there are many smartphone available in market which come under mid-range devices but hold decent battery lives. The battery may not even serve for the whole day under normal conditions. But there is good news from Lenovo and that it the battery manager app which helps the user to manage the battery more efficiently by allowing turning off majority of the sensors available in the phone in order to extend the battery life of the phone. The RAM is limited here to 1GB which may another reason for performance lags while the internal storage is also limited to 8GB but can be further extended up to 32GB.
Pros and Cons
For pros:
· Good price
· Nice screen
· Dual SIM
· Memory extension
· Removable battery
For cons:
· Low battery life
· Outdated body design
· Low RAM and internal storage
· Low performing camera
· Old OS
Verdict
Under reasonable budget, Lenovo S650 is a nice choice. The interface is easy to be used and quick as well. Though the camera, design and the battery life are not very much impressive even then the overall look and feel of the phone is good. Lenovo needs to now change the design language of its devices as the design looks much outdated. Under midrange mobile categories, there many good looking and decently built phones available so user many not prefer this one for its first look.
