Lava Iris 406Q Mobile Price in India
Lava has gained a lot of trust over the years in the low-end smartphone market. With tough competition from other good smartphones such as Moto E, Honor Holly, Lava has tried to outperform them is some way if not all and with that, they have released The Iris 406Q. It is powerful and stylish and is definite to grab a lot of attention. This phone however, is not all perfect. There are a few quirks which might drive away some part of the potential buyers.
Features and specifications
It is a medium sized Dual SIM phone with 4 inch display. Both the SIM slots have GSM support and 3G net connectivity. It comes with a very powerful 1.2 GHz QUALCOMM Snapdragon processor which can easily run high end applications and games. To support this processor, a 1 GB RAM exists allowing multitasking to be a smooth experience and a non-lagging user performance. It also has the Adreno 302 GPU. This phone comes with 4GB on internal memory which can be expanded. It has a 1700 mAh battery which gives an average backup on mixed usage. It has a 5 MP primary camera and a 0.3 MP secondary camera.
Design and Quality
Though the quality of this phone might not feel premium, it has a simple design that makes it look nice and comfortable. It look very similar to the iPhone 4S. It has a TFT display with 480 x 800 pixels. This isn’t HD and thus the colours seem a bit faded on the display. It has 3 capacitive touch buttons at the bottom of the screen for performing Menu, Home and Back options from left to right respectively. It comes in Black and white variants. The volume rockers as well as the power buttons are located on the left panel of the phone. The camera is located at the top-centre pf the phone with a Flash on its felt side.
OS and Tech
This phone runs the Android version 4.3, the Jelly Bean and can be upgraded to KitKat. The phone has stock Android and comes only with the inbuilt apps. Lava hasn’t added any special features on its own. The Iris also has all the basic sensors such has Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor and ALS. This helps the phone run smoothly. The display on this device is TFT which is a disappointment but has multi-touch support. It also has support for A-GPS and Wi-Fi-hotspot which is useful while transferring large files or while sharing Internet connection with others.
Camera and Multimedia
Both the cameras on this phone are not that good. The primary camera is a 5MP camera which does not take good quality pictures. It has 4x-Zoom but the clarity of the images takes suffers a lot. It is capable of shooting videos at HD but that again doesn’t look that great. The Secondary camera is 0.3 MP which is very bad. The clarity of the selfie taken is very poor and gives below average video clarity while video calling. This phone comes with inbuilt support for various audio and video multimedia formats and has preinstalled players to support such files. Since the display doesn’t have a good resolution, the video or image might appear a little pixelated.
Battery and Memory
The Iris 406 Q comes with a 1700 mAh battery which gives average backup on high usage and moderate backup on mixed usage. Using this phone for only memory intensive applications or games will drain the battery very quickly. This phone comes with a 4GB of internal memory which is a low when compared to all the apps that can be stored and used. The memory however is expandable as external memory up to 32 GB. It also has a 1GB RAM which is very helpful for running high end games and provides the user with a good usage experience. Multi-tasking is also a good experience with this phone.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Very powerful processor with high performance capability
· Good amount of RAM
· Expandable memory
For Cons:
· Very poor secondary camera
· Lower internal memory
· Even though an upgrade is allowed, the OS still isn’t the latest version.
Verdict
This is a very powerful phone which can give people a glimpse of high end gaming and application experience at a comparatively lesser price. Lava has brought out this phone only to fulfil the wishes of high performance phone in the low-end market. But this attempt has left a few dents in the other features such as poor resolution camera and lower resolution screen. If you are a person who would expect a lot of clarity in video playbacks or someone who want to take great pictures with a camera phone this isn’t for you. Else this is one amazing phone you could buy.
