Huawei launched their new phone Ascend G730in April 2014 and this phone has received a great response from the consumers. The display and touch screen on this phone is so engaging that it is difficult to put it down. The user interface on this phone is very intuitive making it extremely easy to use for anyone, whether young or old. A cool and fabulous feature is the voice controlled cameras.
Features & Specifications
The screen on this phone is a 5.5 inch capacitive display. The screen with 16M colors provides great detail and clear display. The cameras in this handset are decent. The primary camera is a 5 MP camera while the secondary camera is a basic 0.3 MP VGA camera. The processing is done by a 1.3 GHz quad core processor by MediaTek. The internal memory is a little low at 4 GB and the 1 GB RAM is the basic RAM available in most phones today. It comes with the Android Jelly Bean operating system which is a slightly outdated version of Android. Wi-Fi, hotspot and Bluetooth v4.0 allow you to easily connect to a network. The microUSB v2.0 towards the bottom allows USB connectivity. It is a dual SIM phone and supports both 2G and 3G. It has an ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and an accelerometer.
Design and Quality
The handset weighs around 180 grams which is on the heavier side. The phone is slim and sleek with curved edges. The metallic monochrome finish on this phone gives it a great look and the screen is very easily accessible. The sensors are present on either side of the earpiece on the front of the phone. You can easily access the three capacitive buttons at the front bottom of the phone. The audio jack at the top is a standard 3.5 mm.
OS and Tech
This phone comes with v4.2 or Jelly Bean Android OS. This operating system lets you do many things simultaneously but the low RAM might not gel well with the operating system. Huawei could have done better by equipping the phone with KitKat or Lollipop Android OS. The Emotion User Interface 2.0 is a great addition and in conjunction with the operating system and RAM gives great performance. The user interface is the Emotion UI 2.0.
Camera and Multimedia
The primary camera is a 5 MP camera which has a pixel configuration of 2592 * 1944 pixels. The Autofocus lets you focus very easily and the LED flash enables you to take crisp pictures in low light. A fabulous feature in this phone is that the cameras respond to voice commands. Multimedia is supported through 3.5 mm jack. Standard audio and video file formats are supported by the phone.
Battery and Memory
The battery is an impressive 2300 mAh which will last you about 200 hours if just kept on standby. It supports a full day’s use without needing a recharge. The battery will last you around 3 hours if you are constantly talking. This battery configuration is better when compared to other phones at this price level. The 1 GB RAM is a little disappointing and the internal memory is only 4 GB. Even lesser is available thanks to the OS and other files. You can expand the storage through a 32 GB microSD card.
