Oppo R1 Mobile Price in India
The latest mid-range smartphone to enter the market is Oppo R1. This phone is the successor of Oppo R819 but it comes up with a complete new design along with new software and hardware specifications as compared to its ancestor R819. The design is brilliant here and the phone is the slimmest by now as considered by the market experts. The price set for the smartphone is little high and the phone actually has to justify itself for the high price set for it.
Features and Specifications
The weight of the phone is 140g and the display screen is large 5-inch having IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors. The screen is guarded by Corning gorilla Glass 3. The RAM here is 1GB and the internal storage is 16GB and there is no further extension to memory is provided. Two cameras have been provided in it. The back camera is of 8MP with LED light and autofocus feature while the front camera is of 5MP used for fallacies. The OS it runs on is Android v4.2.1 Jelly Beans and the set is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The battery life is 2410mAh and the connectivity features include GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, microUSB, and 2G/3G.
Design and Quality
The Oppo R1 seems to be inspired by the shine of diamond and its design has been inspired by the Sony Xperia. The Gorilla Glass being used as the protective cover for the screen has passed through many procedures to give a gleaming finish. The screen is shiny so it attracts fingerprints easily. The back of the phone is made up of glass layer which is also prone to fingerprints along with scratches. The frame of the phone is made up of magnesium which is perfect solid and gives better feel while in hand. The phone is very slim having just 7.1mm thickness which provides a good reason for perfect grip. The power button is on the left spine of the phone and the volume keys are located towards the right. The 3.5mm headphone jack resides at the top and the microUSB port along with hands free slots is available on the base-side.
OS and Tech
The OS provided in this smartphone is old i.e. Android v4.2.1 Jelly Beans. Even booting of the phone takes 32 seconds. The OS is smart enough to providing enough multitasking and switching among the screens. The performance of the phone is quite acceptable even with the old version of OS and the limited RAM.
Camera and Multimedia
The 8MP camera seems to be an exciting feature of the phone but the camera only shows up 3MP, 8MP and 5MP resolution options while the final picture ratio sticks to 4:3. The video recording is also limited to 720p. The images generated were rich and crispy but the colors seem too blunt out and away from reality. The LED flash is even doesn’t bring the correct color grasping by the camera. The front camera though works fine for the video calls.
Battery and Memory
The battery life provided here is 2410 mAh and this much battery is good enough to stand for the whole day and sometimes more than one day. Even having the large screen, this much standby time from the battery is a remarkable effort. The power saving mode allows for reducing the brightness of the screen. This power saving mode has to be selected manually. There is battery reminder notification present here which notifies user when the 40% battery life is left. The RAM is limited to 1GB while there is only primary memory available in the set of 16GB. No memory extension is provided so this much memory may for some user be limited.
Pros and Cons
For pros:
· Good and sleek design
· Slimmest phone
· Good battery life
· Good performing front camera
For cons:
· Old OS
· Limited RAM
· Average back camera
· Expensive set
Verdict
The design, front camera and the build quality of the phone are inspiring. But these features are offered at an expensive price. The OS is old enough and seems performance lags due to the limitation of RAM and processor. The price is set quite high considering the memory cannot be extended and the overall performance of the phone is too average. There are many other mid-range smartphone in market having better specifications than Oppo R1 under affordable prices so why should one go for this one? Oppo has to enhance few features and specifications of the phone in order to make it justifiable for the price set for it.
