Features and Specifications:

The Karbonn A101 is a Dual SIM handset having a 4 inch screen. The screen is made with TFT capacitive technology offering 16M colors along with multi-touch. OS used in the device is Android v4.2 Jelly Bean and processor on-board the device is 1.3GHz Dual Core. The A101 comes with 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal memory to boot. The storage can be further expanded up to 32GB with the help of a Micro-SD card. The smartphone has a 5MP rear shooter with LED flash. At the front, there is a secondary digital camera for video calling. Backing the device is a 1500mAh battery while all the connectivity features too are on-board.

Design and Display

Karbonn has always been applauded for their innovative design and for giving their smartphone a sheer perfection. This is also true for the A101. It is available in two colors- Black and White, both of which look good on the phone. The small size of the phone fits naturally in the hands and makes accessing the phone, more intuitive and fun. Power button is located on the right side while the volume controls are present on the left. The rear metallic panel adds to the overall charm of the phone, but is quite smudgy and prone to fingertips. Coming to the display, though there’s no IPS panel, in all actuality the display is quite good and the color reproduction is better than many devices in the same segment.

OS and Tech

OS used in the smartphone is Android v4.2 Jelly Bean, which offers newer tweaks, better customization and security features. Face lock, Bluetooth Smart are some of the features that come with the snappy OS. There are many preloaded apps installed to improve the user experience.

Camera and Multimedia

The A101 has a 5MP Camera along with LED flash. The camera, while not the best, takes some decent and impressively sharp photos in daylight. The Image quality is quite good and the snapper records accurate color depth. There is also a digital secondary camera, which, besides the occasional video calling is up to no good. Thanks to the 3G support, all the latest multimedia features are on-board the device.

Battery and Memory

The Smartphone is backed by a 1500mAh battery that gives a decent battery life. Under normal conditions, it suffices enough to last a day which in itself is okay. The 512MB RAM along with 1.3GHz Dual Core processor provides for a near lag-less and fast multitasking. The 4GB ROM on-board is sufficient for apps and games and can be expanded with the help of a Micro-SD card up to 32GB.

With all the OEMs targeting the budget segment in the country, there has been a heavy increase in the entry level smartphone segment lately. Karbonn A101 is one to follow suit, no doubt it packs some decent features at an affordable price but there are other smartphone like Spice stellar Mi-508, Nokia X Dual SIM and even the Karbonn A5s Smart which provide newer generation features at almost similar pricing making the battle all the more tough.
