Design and Quality

It has professionally designed rounded edges and the back cover and the battery is removable. The larger screen means it is hard to handle the phone with single hand. The plastic back covering is too glossy and is smudge magnet. The phone is not much heavy weighing 160g and 9.7mm thick. The 5Mp camera is present on the rear side at the center of the phone. The phone has two variants, full black and white while the glossy back makes it difficult to handle it with single hand. The features are of good quality serving the purpose it is intended to efficiently.

OS and Tech

HTC Desire 516 works on an outdated Android v4.2 jelly bean OS. In order to handle the device with one hand, the HTC has provided a drop down notification menu and up-down app drawer. The regular apps are handled quite well by the phone even using the outdated version of Android OS but the performance lags when someone tries to use the data hogging apps.

Camera and Multimedia

The 5Mp rear camera along with LED flash is quite decent and takes better quality pictures under light but the 2Mp front camera is the best in the device. It also helps to produce sound quality videos in day time.

Battery and Memory

The battery has 1950mAh life capacity along with removable and rechargeable Li-ion battery providing 9 hours talk time and 2290 hours standby time for 3G. The memory capacity is awesome with 4GB internal memory extendable up to 32 GB. This gives the phone a real fun to use for this much memory.

Verdict

HTC Desire 516 is a good release, from keeping in front its performance for handling normal applications, battery life and camera performance but it is not one of the highest ranked products of HTC. Comparing it with its competitors in market, HTC Desire 516 comes as middle line for overall performance demanding quite a high price. The look and feel of the product should be improved along with the internal storage capacity if it has to compete with its competitors in the smartphone market.
