Features and Specifications

The phone is available in three different colors; black, red and white. It supports 3G and runs on Android v.4.2 Jelly Beans and supports Dual SIMs having 8core with 1.4GHz processor giving illusion of a perfect smartphone as is expected from any smartphone. It comes in 4GB built-in memory of which 3.5GB is available to user. Memory could be extended up to 32GB using microSD card slot. It has special navigation features like A-GPS receiver and Google Maps. Battery life is quite large i.e. 2000mAh which is much better battery life. The touch screen is capacitive giving a full functionality of a touch screen. Two cameras are provided in it with 8MP front and 2MP rear camera.

Design and Quality

The 5-inch display device is enough for id range devices. Its design is similar to HTC Desire 816 having large speaker holes and sounded corners. It has a glossy plastic back shell which provides a better grip. The battery is removable; one has to remove the battery in order to insert the SIM and microSD card. The speaker is placed at the back. Though the design is good but the glossy plastic is fingerprint magnet and the finger prints get easily visible on it. With wonderful design specifications, the performance is to some extent of good quality.

OS and Tech

The phone runs Android v.4.2 Jelly beans and has Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A7 processor along with 1GB RAM giving all real applications of Android zeal. The problem with the phone is that it does get real gaps when it comes to working and one feels constant pauses when there is much expectation that it would work as quick as one can think of it. Though the OS is quite advance even then there is faced some performance discrepancies especially the delays in generating output.

Camera and Multimedia

The 8MP camera provided in HTC Desire 616 is mediocre having LED flash. It also has 2MP front camera for taking some real shots. The 8MP camera doesn’t give any details of the picture taken along with having lots of noise. The shutter provided here is bit slow and one experiences laps between clicking of button and shutter closing. However, it does provide panorama pictures and beauty mode filters helping in making the skin smooth but it gives an artificial effect of the real pictures. Even in beauty mode, majority of the users have felt no change in picture quality. It also records videos and can be called as a true video house due to long storage and playing of movies due to larger memory and battery respectively.

Battery and Memory

The battery provided in HTC Desire 616 is larger i.e. of 2000mAh giving 840min talk time and up to 700hrs stand by time which is quite huge to run all much played games and videos. The internal memory is also awesome as it has built-in memory of 4GB of which 3.5GB is available to user. Memory extension is also provided through microSD card slot which enhances the memory up to 32GB. Both these features make this device a real ideal one if the camera performance is kept aside.

Pros and Cons

For pros:

For cons:

·        Often results in sluggish performance

·        Expensive than its competitors having similar features

·        Lacking Camera performance is not up to the mark

Verdict

HTC Desire 616 is not the best product from HTC as we have seen some better than this one from its previous range of products. Even its competitors having similar features like Asus ZenFone 5 or Redmi Note is better from it in price aspect. The phone isn’t completely a flop as it does have few very good features like the beautiful design and finishing makes it ideal smartphone to eyes. It gives a perfect sound grip of the phone in single hand along with better battery life and large screen plus memory. But the performance sluggish makes it little out dated for advance smartphone lovers.
