1.      Features and Specifications: Obi Octopus S520 mobile was launched in July 2014. As it is common in every mobile nowadays, it’s a dual SIM support phone. The unique feature provided in this mobile is that SIM 1 is a regular size SIM card and SIM 2 is a micro SIM card. This feature allows any user to transcend from his existing mobile to this phone without any inhibition. Both SIM support 3G and are GSM.

2.      Design and Quality: Design of this phone is common. It’s a simple candy bar design with sleek and curved edges. The camera is located at upper left corner giving the back panel a smart look. The dimensions are 145 * 75 * 8.4 mm. The touch screen is capacitive with a resolution of 720 * 1280 pixels and 16M colors. The mobile has a screen of 5.0 inches. This gives a good display and color definition is nice too.

3.      OS and Tech:The processor provided is a 1.7Ghz octa-core Mediatek MT6592. But, Snapdragon proves to be a better processor. This is supported by a 1GB RAM. The Octa-core processor is a very good feature. It gives excellent speed and no hang-ups during multi-tasking. The operating system is Android 4.4.2 and also JAVA supported.

4.      Camera and Multimedia: The primary rear camera is 8MP with a resolution of 3264 * 2448 pixels and features like digital zoom, flash. This mobile also has a secondary camera located at the front of the device. This camera is of 2.0 MP which is enough for taking Selfies or for video calling.

5.      Battery and Memory: battery is 1800mAH and is not removable. The talk time produced by this small battery is of only 240 minutes and the stand by time is of 180 hours. The internal memory is a decent 8GB. This proves sufficient for storing maximum of your audio / video files or any applications from the Android Playstore. Also, it is expandable up to 32 GB using an external slot like most of the other smart phones. 

6.      Other Features: This phone supports Wi-Fi, has Bluetooth (version 4.0), 3.5 mm headphones jack, FM radio. It also has USB connectivity plus the USB can be used for charging as well.

PROS:

1.      Good speed and performance due to a powerful Octa-core processor.

2.      Good image quality due to camera of 8MP with LED flash.

3.      Sleek and light weight.

4.      Reasonable price.

CONS:

1.      The design is a common one and a non-attractive one.

2.      Battery is not long lasting.

VERDICT:

OBI has come with a good “value for money” mobile with the OCTOPUS S250. This mobile has the KitKat operating system with a Mediatek Octa-core processor. This gives the device a good speed while simultaneous operating of multiple applications or gaming. The 1GB RAM supports this feature. The internal memory placed at 8GB is really good though very common amongst other smart phones. The battery life proves to be insufficient when a person is expected to multi-task or play games. The rear camera with flash and 8MP is adequate for day to day photography in light as well as dark ambience. Lastly, placed at a reasonable price, this mobile has all the features that one looks for in a smart phone nowadays except the poor battery life.
