Features & Specifications:

The XOLO A550S is a Dual SIM phone by XOLO. The phone sports a 4 inch display and a 5 MP camera. The internal memory is 4GB and external memory is expandable up to 32GB (microSD). For connectivity, the phone supports v2.0 USB, BT 3.0 Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and WLAN support.

Design and Quality:

The phone comes with an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 256K colors. The IPS LCD screen makes it easy to view the screen clearly even from tricky angles. The screen size is 4 inch and has a resolution of 480x800 pixels. The device supports 2 point touch and has 233 PPI. The device has hard keys on the side for volume and power.

The phone is sleek and sophisticated looking. Thickness is 9mm and has golden bands on the rim. The phone is available only in white but is pretty good to look at.

OS and Tech:

The phone packs an Android version 4.2.2 Operating System which is pretty outdated. But it does come with an Android KitKat upgrade. The processor is Dual core and runs at 1GHz. The chipset is MTK6572M. The phone boasts of a Mali 400 Graphics processor with a clock speed of 395MHz. The RAM is 512 MB and could have been better.

Camera and Multimedia:

The device has a 5MP primary camera and VGA front camera. The primary camera has an LED flash but is quite ordinary and the front camera is disappointing if you compare it to other phones in the same price range. The camera comes with features like auto focus, scene detection, face detection, panorama, geo tagging, best shot, smile shot and HDR. The phone comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack which is pretty standard for all the devices nowadays. The audio codecs supported are MP3, AMR-NB, Wav, AAC, AAC and MIDI. Video playback is 720p and video recording supports it too. The video codecs supported are MPEG4, H.263, H.264 and MP4. The device also has the FM radio feature.

Battery and Memory:

The battery has a capacity of 1400mAh which is pretty decent considering the price of the phone. Total charging time is 3.3 hours. Total stand by time is 630 hours with 2G and 570 hours with 3G. Talk time is 21 hours for 2G and 8 hours for 3G. The internal memory is 4GB and external is expandable up to 32 GB.  Though the memory is acceptable for storing media, the screen size is not suitable for watching videos for too long.

Let us cut to the chase. This phone is NOT for you if you are into selfies and use video calling. It is also not for those who like bigger grander screens since it is just 4 inches and watching videos or movies will not be very enjoyable.
