Karbonn A14 Mobile Price in India
Karbonn Mobiles entered the market of smartphones with the sole aim of providing quality smartphones at an extremely affordable price. It is an Indian brand launched in March 2009 with the joint venture between Bangalore based United Telelinks and Noida based Jaina marketing. Since, its launch in 2009, it has showed an upwards growth graph. The mobile being discussed below is the Karbonn A14, another feather in the cap of Karbonn mobiles.
Features and Specifications:
Karbonn A14 is a dual SIM device supporting GSM on 2G powered with the KitKat Operating System and a 1.2GHz Dual core processor supported by a 512MB RAM. The rear camera is of 5MP and the front camera is almost of negligible importance as it is a VGA camera.
Design and Quality:
Karbonn A14 has a 4.3 inch WVGA IPS touch screen display. The resolution is of 480 x 800 pixels with TFT 16M colors. The resolution is poor which prevents the user from getting a clear vivid display. The color definition is not proper especially when the video or the game you playing has supreme graphics. The multi-touch sensor is quite good and allows swiping between the apps and menu very easily. The size of the device is 129.9 x 69 x 9.4 mm and weight of 120 gm. The design is a little different than the conventional ones. Instead of curved edges, this phone has sharp cut edges and available in dashing black and white colors.
OS and Tech:
Karbonn A14 has the Android Operating System, version 4.4, KitKat (not the latest one in market). This OS opens you to a wide range of apps from PlayStore though not the latest ones. This OS gets his power from 1.2GHz dual core processor and 512 MB RAM. The processor is not that powerful, it gives you with the power for only the basic applications. Also, the RAM fails to give speed to the device with just 512MB RAM. This RAM should have been at least 1GB to give a good speed to this otherwise slow device.
Camera and Multimedia:
The camera is considered one of the important features nowadays in any smartphone. Every user checks for the camera clarity before deciding on which smartphone to go for. Karbonn A14 has a rear camera of 5MP with LED flash, zoom and a picture resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. This allows you capture decent photos in day light as well as night light. You can also record videos and playback them later on. The secondary camera is of negligible mention as it is just a VGA camera. It is of no use in capturing self-snaps or for video calling. This phone also supports the wide range of audio and video formats required by any user.
Battery and Memory:
When you want your device to multi-task, you also expect the device to have a long lasting battery. This phone is powered by a 1400mAh Li-ion battery. The internal memory is of 4GB and expandable further with an external memory card slot. This gives you the freedom to store your favorite movies and games without a second thought.
PROS & CONS:
PROS:
· Different design then other conventional curved edges.
· Average photos in day light.
· Decent battery life.
· Reasonably placed money wise.
CONS:
· Poor RAM leading to a very slow device.
· Less internal memory.
· Poor color definition leading to lack of vivid pictures.
· Lacks GPU which hinders in the gaming experience.
VERDICT:
Karbonn A14 is an average quality dual SIM device with a 4.3 inch display and an operating system of KitKat. This is supported by the 1.2GHz dual core processor and a 512MB RAM. Well, the display size is quite adequate and the OS also proves quite satisfactory. But the RAM proves highly inadequate dragging the device at slow speeds when multi-tasking or when browsing the internet. The rear camera of 5MP gives decent photos though not extra-ordinary. The secondary camera is also only of VGA quality and is of no use at all. Internal memory of 4GB proves only borderline sufficient when it comes to storing your personal videos, audios, photos etc. Karbonn A14 is reasonably priced at 4,000/-INR approximately. If you ready to pay a slight more, Karbonn Titanium S10 or Micromax Canvas Spark proves to be a good choice.
