Samsung is famous for the notes they release every year. On top of that, they experiment a lot in their flagship models but do they justice to their low-mid range phones? The answer could be found out by Samsung Galaxy Duos 3 which targets mid-range market segment. The Samsung Galaxy Duos 3 is the successor of Galaxy Duos 2. The screen size of the phone is just 4 inches and is mainly suited for users who are not into much technology and just want a phone for calling and messaging. Still, the phone offers lots of feature that can appeal to many mobile lovers out there.

Features and Specification

The phone offers only 4 inches of TFT capacitive touchscreen which has 16M colors. The phone comes with two cameras; the front-end 0.3 MP camera and the 5 MP Autofocus enabled back-end camera. The back-end camera comes with LED flash. The processor of the phone is mediocre Cortex-A7 dual-core 1.2 GHZ coupled with 512 MB RAM, which is very low compared to another phone in this price range. The internal storage of the phone is also mediocre sporting only 4 GB, which can be further, expanded to 32 GB using microSD slot available with the phone. The battery of the phone is standard 1500 mAh Li-ON battery. The phone supports dual-SIM and also offer basic connectivity features such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. The phone is run on Android KitKat OS (version 4.2.2).

Design and Quality

A metallic finish body with a plastic finish describes the build quality of the phone. The quality of this Samsung phone could have been much better, but Samsung decided it otherwise. The phone is slim and fits perfectly in one hand. There are buttons available on both sides of the phone. The power button is located on the left side whereas the volume keys are located on the right side of the phone. Front view of the phone reveals two touch screen sensor with the addition to the home button. The top of the phone has a 3.5 mm earphone jack and the bottom of the phone carries a multi-function USB slot. The phone is available in only two colors: black gray and white. The top of the phone also carries the front camera whereas the back carries the 8 MP camera with a flash. There is a sleek Samsung logo on the middle of the back end of the phone. Overall, the build quality and design of the phone is good but can always be improved.

Android 4.4.2 is used in the phone. The OS is latest and provides all the smartphone functionality to the phone including fast response time, sleek interface and many more. The OS could not run with glory because of its bottleneck processor and RAM. A better RAM and processor could have taken the proper advantage of the phone OS.

Camera and Multimedia

There are two cameras in the phone. The backend 8 MP camera comes with autofocus and LED flash. The back camera provides decent quality of picture and video can be captured at 720p resolution with 30 fps. The front camera is a disappointed, offering only 0.3 mp of camera. The multimedia capacity of the phone is decent. In video format, it supports MP4/H.264 formats, whereas in audio it supports MP3/WAV etc.

Battery and Memory

The battery of the phone is good for day-to-day purpose. With its 1500 mAh battery, one can easily go around with the phone for a day. Heavy users might have a hard time with the phone battery. Memory wise the phone is also decent, supporting only 4GB of storage internally. The phone capacity can be increased by 32 GB with the help of external memory slot. Samsung also disappoints badly in this section of battery and memory.
