This device sits on relatively bulky side weighing 162g supporting micro-SIM. The display screen is 5-inch large using TFT capacitive touchscreen technology and 16M colors and it readily provides multi-touch up to 10 fingers. Design and Quality

The design of Sony handsets can be easily differentiated from other Android sets. The Xperia Z1s is one another classic Sony design. The build material is fine quality plastic. The handset is available in two colors either black or dark grey. The device is large in size that even the 5-inch screen couldn’t cover whole of the front and plenty of space is left above and below of the screen. This could be design laps but for now it doesn’t look bad. The front of the device is all glass with metal accents at the edges giving it a very classic feel. The bottom of the screen has larger speaker grille along with microphone. The body has waterproof sealing. At the right hand size of the phone, there are power button, camera button and volume rocker. The power button is too small and hard to press at time. The micro-SIM card slot is also located at the right side. At the left hand side, there is microUSB port and microSD card slot. At the top of the phone there is 3.5mm headset jack.

OS and Tech

The device is though equipped with an old OS but the performance, multitasking and switching between different screens is too much smooth. There has not been any single complaint about the performance of the device apart from few complaints when users found that some app is not functioning properly.

Camera and Multimedia

The rear of the phone has 20MP large sensor which is not even found in big brands like Nokia Lumia 1020. This means that the camera has excellent resolution and must be able to generate photos with good details. The larger sensor also means that the camera should work fine under low light. But these boasts from Sony have not been materialized actually by the camera. Pictures taken by it are fine under good light conditions but under low light, the images started becoming grainy. The photos still look like any normal smartphone photos. Rather the quality of pictures generated from the cameras of Nokia Lumia 1020 and iPhone 5S are of better quality than this one. This camera is also capable of recording video in 1920x1080 full HD and the quality of videos is very much decent and better than LG G2 and iPhone 5S. The front camera though has limited capability but does its work fine.

Battery and Memory

The battery is awesome and one will hardly find it to recharge completely. Rather a suggestion would be to only recharge this battery only if one is near to charger. Through the day use of this device even heavy social networking, gaming and video watching with it will at the end of the day utilize only 30-40% of the battery. So the battery component in this phone is quite impressive. The RAM is 2GB and the internal storage is also very huge of 32GB so these two things are other pluses from Sony. The storage can be expanded further using microSD card slot up to 64GB. So memory and battery are fun elements in this device for sure.

Verdict

Xperia Z1s is a nice release from Sony having smart design, waterproof body and excellent battery life. But many things have been exaggerated by the company and are not actually fulfilled by this set like the camera department. Overall this phone is not a bad choice if few things can be overlooked.
