Features and Specifications

The device though has the water and dust proof features but rest of the specifications are all similar to all Canvas series like it has 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM and is running on Android v4.1 Jelly Beans. It has a large screen of 5.3-inch giving 960x540p resolution. The back camera is of 8MP along with LED light and a VGA camera is provided in front for video conferences and fallacies. It is a dual SIM handset and provides 4GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB with the help of microSD card. The battery provided here is 1760mAh while the connectivity options are USB port, Wi-Fi, GPRS, Edge and Bluetooth.

Design and Specifications

The device is a beautiful looking handset with curved back and edges. It has large screen of 5.3-inch. The build quality of the device is also good. The front of the device carries large screen and on the top of the screen is the front facing camera, a sensor and the speaker bar while the bottom of the screen carries three navigation keys. The top of the handset has the 3.5mm headset jack and the power button and the volume rocker resides on the right hand side while there is a microSD card port on the left side. The screen of the device gives good viewing angles and it also provides perfect grip for the hand.

OS and Tech

The OS here again is an old one. This handset runs on Android v4.1 Jelly Beans which though have not provided ay performance lags by now but an upgrade to it is required as this is quite an older version of OS. The processor is 1.2 GHz which is powerful enough to provide good level of support to this OS and thus there is smooth multitasking being observed here.

Camera and Multimedia

The camera is though not very perfect but it is nice. The 8MP back camera gives reasonably acceptable performance with LED light and some other features like panorama, geo tagging, HDR etc. the nighttime photography may be little troublesome but daylight photography is a fun though there is no complete description of the images taken by it. The front camera is of average quality working better for the fallacies.

Battery and Memory

The battery is huge here as well as this device comes up with 1760mAh battery. This much battery works its job perfectly giving almost 7hrs of talk time and 150hrs of standby time as claimed by the company. It provides a day long use of the mobile but takes longer time to get completely recharged again. The built-in memory is limited to 4GB which should have been enhanced but an external enhancement can be provided to it using microSD card and the memory is upgraded up to 32GB.

Verdict

The only attraction in this handset is that it keeps on performing its functions even if it is being dropped in water. Rest all of the features are not very much attractive. The selling price of this device could be this dust and water resistant nature but it has to give good competition to its competitors in order to get the attention of the customers in terms of performance and features. By now, this is considered as an average handset which offers all mediocre features and specifications and there is nothing very special about it apart from the dustproof and waterproof feature. The OS is still a major bottleneck in all brands of Micromax and it has to give full attention towards this issue as it may drop the sale of the Micromax devices. There should be an upgrade provided to this device as well in terms of OS. The low price may be another attractive feature of this handset but it may not attract customers that much if the features are not very much competitive. The screen even got little lower than Micromax Canvas Tube A118R where it was 5.5-inch and in this case it becomes 5.3-inch.
