Gionee CTRL V4S has a large screen of 4.5-inch and 1GB RAM. It has 1.3GHz quad core processor while the OS it is being operated on is Android v4.4KitKat. The device supports dual SIMs and has an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front camera for video calls and fallacies. The battery provided to it is 1800mAh while the connectivity features include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, and microUSB. The set is available in black and white colors. The internal storage in this device is 8GB which is extendable up to 32GB by using microSD card.

Design and Quality

The design of the device is superb as the company had use ion plating along with laser carving to make the look of the phone more attractive and delicate. The phone is made up of fine material having matte finish back that gives a perfect grip for the hand. The buttons are all elegantly located at sides. The front of the phone has 4.5-inch screen. At the top of the screen there is front facing camera with a sensor while at the bottom of the screen there are three touchscreen navigation keys. The back of the phone carries the back camera with the LED light below it and the company logo. The sides of the phone are nicely curved and the viewing angles of the screen are fine. The volume rocker and the power button are situated at the right side while the 3.5mm headset jack is located at the top of the device.

OS and Tech

Gionee CTRL V4S is supported with Android v4.4 KitKat along with a good boost from 1.3GHz processor. The OS is quite latest and provide wonderful multitasking and the switching among the tasks is very smooth and prompt. The RAM though is limited to 1GB but this hopefully will not affect the performance of the phone. Having strong OS and good features, Gionee CTRL V4S gives a good competition to Asus ZenFone 4, Lava Iris X1 and Karbonn Titanium S5 Ultra.

The back camera is of 8MP and the LED light is being provided to it to provide good performance under low light. The front camera is of 2MP working fine for the video conferencing and a wonderful experience for fallacies. In terms of photography, this device gives an average performance. The still images taken by the back camera are not of very high quality but they are not bad as well. At the affordable price, the performance of the camera is acceptable. It can also record videos which also suffer lack of proper details but the quality is not bad either. Day light photography does provide a lot of details and good colors but when it comes for low light, the performance of the camera is compromised to marginally high level.

Battery and Memory

The battery life is 1800mAh which though seems less for keep the phone working whole day. As per claims of the company, this device is capable of providing 230hrs of standby time and 960min of talk time. But the fact is that the device under moderate use hardly can stand for the whole day and having larger screen, much of the battery life is being consumed by the screen. Lower battery means it can be recharged quickly and only 1 hours of charging makes the battery 100 percent recharged. The RAM is very limited i.e. 1GB but under affordable price this much RAM even works fine with the rest of the specifications but since the OS is latest so the RAM needs to be upgraded as well. The built-in storage is 8GB out of which 4GB is available to the user but the battery can also be extended further up to 32GB by using the microSD card as the slot is available for it.

Verdict

To many users the price set for Gionee CTRL V4S is little expensive as the features and specifications provided with it very mediocre expect for the latest OS. There are many handsets having similar features but with much affordable prices already available in market. The screen of the phone lacks sharp display but the good storage and latest OS are the pluses of this smartphone. The performance of the phone is also very smooth.
