Oppo R819 Mobile Price in India
The Chinese company Oppo is struggling now to release more cheap handsets but in some of the devices it keeps good balance between the price and the features like the Vivo X3 which has got sleek design, big screen with cost control processor. The company now wants to introduce the high end concept to the world by launching R819. This is a cheap handset with thin design along with dual SIM capability which is hardly to be found anywhere at this price range. But this device is facing a very tough completion from its rivals like Nexus 5 and Moto G.
Features and Specifications
Oppo R819 is quite thin weighing 110g with dual SIM capability. The display is 4.7inch having IPS LCD Capacitive Touchscreen technology and 16M colors along with multi-touch provision. The OS it runs on is Android v4.2.1 Jelly Beans and 1.2GHz quad-core processor. It has 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage which cannot be further expanded. The back camera is 8MP with LED light and features like autofocus, geo tagging, face detection, touch focus and panorama. The front camera is 1.9MP used for selfies. The battery is 2000mAh and the connectivity features added to this device include Wi-Fi, GPS, microUSB, Bluetooth and GSM.
Design and Quality
The design of the phone is not extraordinary. At the top of the screen is little too extra speaker, a front facing camera and at the bottom is the three navigation keys. The back side is featureless with just having back 8MP camera, a tiny microphone and speaker grille. The back is made up of glossy plastic which doesn’t give a premium feel at all. Though it is very comfortable to be held in hand but the build quality is not very inspiring. It is the slimmest handset available in the price range set for it. The 4.7-inch screen is not matchable to those provided in Nexus 5 and Find 5 but not bad at all. The screen is very much visible under sun and the colors are equally vibrant providing good viewing angles.
OS and Tech
Oppo has not upgraded its OS version and still it is running on Android v4.2.1 Jelly Beans as opposed to its rivals like Huawei which has upgraded in OS department. This OS though works fine and the company has not overloaded it by providing many international apps to the device so it works smoothly for whatever apps it has been provided with.
Camera and Multimedia
Normally the in cheap phone, there is not very much high hopes attached with the camera department. Even the Nexus 5 generates mediocre pictures but the R819 has little edge in this area. The rear 8MP camera with Sony Exmor Sensor along with f/2.0 wide lens makes this camera little stunning. This provides good performance in lowlight and excellent picture quality in close up shots. The colors of the pictures are good as well but to be honest the quality of photography adventure doesn’t match that of HTC One, Lumia 1020 and iPhone 5s. Sometimes the images produce dark shadows but it happens rarely. The video recording with this device generates noise and the motion gets blur at times in scenes but the overall quality of the images and video are not bad. The performance of the front camera though is much better than the rear one. The front camera produces sharp and accurate colored selfies.
Battery and Memory
Though the performance lags has been observed at time due to old OS and limited RAM but it can be overlooked if one looks at the stunning battery life provided to this handset. The 2000mAh battery can last for 6hours under intensive heavy use including watching video in 720p screen resolution and using internet along with messaging and calls. Under moderate use, this battery goes on for whole day. It also provides superb call quality which is normally ignored department in some of the handset. The RAM here is 1GB which should have been little raised and the internal storage is 16GB without any further extension to the memory.
Pros and Cons
For pros:
· Excellent battery life
· Nice and decent camera
· Slimmest design
For cons:
· Little slower in performance than its competitors
· Expensive price for mediocre features
· Non-expendable internal storage
Verdict
The Oppo R819 is a real champion in battery life with an excellent combination of camera performance for the price set for it. But it gets little down in overall performance and its rivals take a step ahead of it in performance and wins real value for money. Rest of the features provided in it are all mid-ranged and there is nothing very much exceptional about it. The need is to provide little upgrades in some areas where necessary if this device has to retain its customers.
