Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3

Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 Mobile Price in India
The cheapest 4G phone by now in the market is Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3. Though Motorola Moto E is another one budget 4G phone having extended features and specification, Alcatel OneTouch Pop3 makes a cut on some of the features and specifications which may go against the popularity of the brand. The most important aspect that is highly ignored in the device is its build quality where more concentration should have been given in order to attract as many users as possible.
Features and Specifications
OneTouch Pop S3 is not much heavy neither very light; it weighs 130g. The screen size is 4.0-inch having TFT Capacitive Touchscreen technology using 16M colors and 480x800p resolution along with multi-touch facility up to 2 fingers. The OS used in it is Android v4.3 Jelly Beans and the processor used is 1.2GHz Quad-core. The RAM is 1GB and the internal storage is limited to 4GB but is expandable up to 32GB using a MicroSD card. The rear camera is 5MP with LED light and features like auto focus, touch focus, Geo tagging, face/smile detection HDR and Panorama. The video can also be recorded with it with 1080p resolution and the front camera is VGA used for selfies. The battery is 2000mAh Li-ion and the connectivity is done through Wi-Fi, microUSB, GPS, and GSM.
Design and Quality
Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 is a very simple looking phone. He back cover is made up of tough plastic which is removable and is hard enough to give cheap feelings. The back cover is even replaceable with different colors like yellow, black or white as available in the packaging. These coverings are hardly found in any low cost phone. The feel of the phone seems to be taken from iPhone 5C. The front of the phone has the cheap Android feel but the overall design is better than all Huawei budget sensitive phones. The power button has been integrated into the back case and there is no backlight soft keys on screen, these features make this phone low cost phone as there are hardly admired by the users. It carries the notification LED on front along with a light sensor. It has to be kept in mind that Nokia Lumia 630 doesn’t carry this light sensor which means it cannot have auto brightness of the screen while this is present in Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 and is considered as essential in phones these days.
OS and Tech
This device has the customized Android v4.3 which is an aging Google’s OS version. There are changes made in the OS in order to give the device a typical Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 feel and these changes are largely visual. Though the OS is old but it works very fine with the device with the support of the processor and the RAM.
Camera and Multimedia
OneTouch Pop S3 has a decent camera. It also has LED light and the front camera at an affordable price which is normally missed out in some of the low cost phone like Motorola Moto E. But the quality of the image is not as expected. The back camera and the fixed focus lens with it limits the shots one wants to take and the close up shots is totally blurry. The camera department is not very flourished here, and if someone buys mobile for the camera at an affordable price, then the best option would be Nokia Lumia 520 though it is an old phone but has a very proper and regular autofocus camera with it. The video recording can be done at 1080p resolution but the quality is not amazing though this much resolution is quite much of expectations and the drawback is it eats up memory too quickly. The front camera is VGA but does fine for the selfies and the video calls.
Battery and Memory
2000 mAh battery is attached to this device. The battery is also removable. The battery life is not very good as compared to Motorola Moto E where Moto E provides 8hrs of video playing, the Pop3 provides only 5hrs and this is very disappointing. The power optimization feature is also not fully established here so the phone needs to be recharged daily. The RAM is okay for a low cost device and is 1GB while the internal memory is also very limited i.e. 4 GB but can be further expanded up to 32 GB using a MicroSD card.
Pros and Cons
For pros:
· Low price 4G handset
· Good design
For cons:
· Less games support
· Very poor screen
· Low build quality
Verdict
The price of Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 is rather exception for a 4G devices available in market. But it has overlooked some of the basic features of the handset like the screen quality and the old OS along with camera. If these features have been given some important, this would have been a good 4G device in the market.
