Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 Mobile Price in India
Alacatel is a company which was better known for their production of reliable and feature rich phones for a reasonable price. But the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 is a phone which we think is a little bit pricey for its features. But we have to keep in mind that it offers some good features and because of the good hardware used by the company; the price for this phone may have gone up. So let's take a quick look on the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 and its features.
Features and Specifications
Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 is a dual SIM GSM smart phone with a large 5" IPS display. The screen has a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. So you might be wondering why such a pricey handset has a low resolution like this. Actually we do not have the answer either. Still the display has a good color density of 16 M. The handset has an 8 MP rear camera with an LED flash just beside it. The camera is quite okay and it is able to record videos at high quality. There is a 2 MP camera on the front for taking selfies and video calling. The phone is equipped with a 1.3 GHz Quad core processor which is well expected in this price range. Still the phone comes with Android v4.2 Jelly Bean which is a little bit disappointing. The phone is rigged with a 1 GB RAM, which I think will be enough to run the phone smoothly without lagging. Now let's come down to the best feature of the phone, the internal storage space. Alcatel is offering 16 GB internal storage which is absolutely brilliant. The storage memory can be expanded up to 32 GB externally. The phone is equipped with a 2000mAh battery pack which may not be able to keep the phone alive throughout the entire day. The phone has additional features like GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and USB connectivity.
Design and Quality
The phone has been designed brilliantly. It features a little bit Samsung Mobiles inspired design with round edges, and again at the same time it looks a bit like Apple iPhone Plus 6 from the front. The phone is quite thin, only 7.3 mm thick which is pretty cool. It is thinner than the Gionee Elofe E6 which is 7.9 mm thick, but not as thin as VIVO X5 Max which is amazingly only 4.75 mm thick. The phone is intelligently made to carry it around easily. The phone is pretty light too, only weighing 128 gm (not as light as XOLO Q900s, Gionee Elife S5.1 or even Rage OPS 45Q), lighter than most of the phones in this price range. So it will not tire your hands out while talking. The designing team at Alcatel has done its best design the handset as simple as possible. Overall the phone looks quite brilliant and exquisite.
OS and Tech
It is of great disappointment that the phone comes with Android v4.2 Jelly Bean. We expect a phone of this price range to be loaded with at least Android v4.4 KitKat. Idol2 is rigged with a 1.3 GHz Quad core processor but no GPU, which is a tad bit surprising. Still, thanks to the good hardware, the phone has a good performance track record. You will be able to play light games and watch HD movies on this phone brilliantly.
Camera and Multimedia
The phone has an 8 MP rear camera along with an LED flash. The camera has the ability to take high quality pictures in daylight but the image quality suffers a little bit at night or in low light. The front 2 MP camera can take stunning selfies and is great for video call sessions. The phone has a 5" IPS screen. The screen has a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. The quality may be a little bit duller than a full HD display but due to having a great color density the IPS display is able to deliver accurate colors and picture. Overall the phone has quite okay multimedia features.
Battery and Memory
The phone gets its power from a 2000mAh battery. So you will have to charge the phone throughout the day to keep it alive. If you access the phone quite frequently and have to spend most of your time outside your home, then consider getting yourself a portable power bank for recharging purposes. With great surprise Alcatel amazes us with a 16 GB internal storage which is very useful to gamers and movie buffs. The phone features a microSD card slot to expand the storage space up to 32 GB. Along with this the phone has a 1GB RAM. I personally expected the phone to have a little bit larger RAM, preferably 2 GB. But nonetheless the phone will perform at its top with a 1GB RAM too.

Verdict
Although we are accustomed to notice reasonably priced handsets from Alcatel, this one was a little bit pricey than the manufacturer's most handsets. It performs well and has good benchmark results against its main rivals like Lenovo S880, Micromax Ninja A27 and Sony Xperia U.
