Oppo R3 screen size is of 5-inch with 720p resolution with IPS LCD screen technology and this much screen size is almost very common for almost every mid-range smartphone. The processor with it is of Snapdragon 400 1.6GHz Quad-core and the RAM is 1GB. The internal storage is 8GB with the help of microSD card up to 128GB. The OS it is being run on is Android v4.3 Jelly Beans with the company’s own ColorOS also is present in it. The weight of the phone is 140g and the battery is 2410mAh. The connectivity options are 3G/4G, Edge, GPRS, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It has two cameras. The primary camera is of 8.1MP with LED flash while the secondary camera located at the front of the device is used for the selfies and video calls.

Design and Quality

The thickness of R3 is 6.3mm which makes it the thinnest handset which supports 4G. It is made up of metallic back case along with alloy frames which adds more stability while playing the videos. The screen is fingerprint proof which also enhances its beauty. The top of the screen is having speaker grille with front camera while the bottom of the screen has the three navigation buttons. The back of the phone has the back camera right in the top center with LED flash below it and the company log behind it. While the bottom of the back has the primary large speaker grille. The left side has the power button while the bottom of the device has the microUSB port with mic and the top carries the 3.5mm audio set jack. The right of the phone has the volume rocker and the power button. The look and feel along with the build quality of the device is very nice and impressive.

OS and Tech

The OS here though is not very latest but it is capable enough to perform as per the wishes of the users. The Jelly Beans OS need to be given an upgrade in shape of KitKat but since the device is having powerful processor so the performance doesn’t get deteriorated and the multitasking is also quite swift.

Camera and Multimedia

The rear camera is quite good. Though Oppo never uses pointed cameras but due to the thinness of this phone the camera seems pointed out which affects the evenness of the phone.  But the camera is protected with metal frame and its diameter is kept quite small that it is saved from scratches. Oppo R1 for the first time promoted nighttime photography and the same is carried on in R3. The special photo selection feature allows user to select the best photo out of 10 taken. It has spectacular picture resolution with the perfect combination of colors and pixels giving real brightness and beautiful images. The video recording with it is also a fun and the videos produced by it are of equally good quality. The front camera though is lower in specification but works fine for the selfies and video calls.

Battery and Memory

The 2410mAh battery is quite enough to give this device a full support of a day and a half. The energy saving feature of the screen can also help in preserving the power but it can very easily last for a complete day even under extensive use. The RAM is ok but the internal storage is limited. Out of 8GB only 4.86GB is available for the user to use so this may be a bottleneck, but the good thing is that the battery can be expanded to raise it up to 128GB with the help of microSD card.

Verdict

This device is better in specifications than the latest release from Apple with name iPhone 6 as Oppo R3 is having 1.6GHz quad-core processor while the iPhone 6 has the 1.4GHz Dual core processor. These minute things may bring big effect on the buying behavior of the users. Rest all of the specifications provided to this device is all very nice and the performance of the phone is also very excellent.
