The internal specifications of it are similar to its variant Samsung Galaxy S5. It has Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz Quad core processor with 2GB RAM. It is waterproof and can stay under water for about 30 minutes. The weight of Galaxy S5 Active is 170.1g making it heavier handset. The screen size is 5.1-inch having Super AMOLED Capacitive Touchscreen technology with 16M colors. The screen also supports multi-touch and the protection to the screen is being provided by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The OS is Android v4.4 KitKat. The internal storage is 16 GB which can be expanded further up to 128GB with the use of microSD card. Design and Quality

Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is the wider and taller than Galaxy S5 having plastic corners and straight edges and has flat back. It is a device that gives a tougher look and is available in different colors like Titanium Grey, Ruby Red and Camo Green. The grip though is not easy as the back panel is too smooth. The back cover is removable which unveils the SIM card slot, microSD card slot and the removable battery. On the right hand side is the power button while the volume rocker is on left hand side with a new look known as Active Key. The device is heavier than S5.

OS and Tech

Android v4.4 KitKat is being provided to this device which is quite a latest OS. The OS along with the perfect support from the fastest processor makes the multitasking quite swift and the performance of the phone much better than S5. On the top of the Android OS, there is a TouchWiz interface which provides numerous settings and many optional add-ons making the interface more customizable.

Camera and Multimedia

The back camera is very good. The 16MP back camera has some special filters and modes which make photography more than a fun and the images produced are also of good quality. The video recording by it also provides good experience and the videos produced are of better quality having no proof of shakiness. The front camera works perfectly fine for the selfies and the video conferencing. The performance of the camera can be compared to that of ZTE Nubia Z7 which also carries a wonderful camera and generates good quality images and videos.

Battery and Memory

The battery is wonderful here. It is even good when playing games on full HD screen for about 11 hours and the battery discharged was minimal. There are about two battery preserving modes available in this device that helps in preserving battery to great extent. As per the claim of Samsung, if the battery saving mode has been set to 10% ultra-power saving, the phone can then be used for the whole day. The memory is large here to work in accordance with the OS and the processor making the performance faster. The internal storage is 16GB which is though less but can be expanded further up to 128GB which is a very fascinating thing in this device as this much memory is quite large to store almost every app.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is perfectly nice for a strong design which is shock and water proof but it goes little on ugly side. The look and feel of the handset is not very impressive which may not get attention of the users in first go but the specifications are good enough to provide smooth performance. User needs to look either a delicate design is good for them or a durable design compromising on look. Hope there may be some attention given to its look.
