Samsung Galaxy Young 2
Samsung Galaxy Young 2 Mobile Price in India
Two companies always stand out when it comes for manufacturing modern smartphone. These companies are Samsung and Apple. They both have taken the mobile industry to new horizons bringing more competition. Samsung is the biggest smartphone manufacturing company leading the Android technology in the world which can be better seen in Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5. The new invention in this category is the Galaxy Young 2 which is a low end device besides Galaxy Fame. The price of the device is quite affordable giving good competition to Lumia 520, Nokia Asha 503 and Huawei Ascend Y300.
Features and Specifications
This is a light handset weighing 108g having Dual SIM capability. The screen is 3.5-inch large with TFT Capacitive Touchscreen technology having 256K colors and also provides multi-touch. The OS is Android v4.4.2 KitKat and the processor is 1GHz. The RAM is 512MB while the internal storage is 4 GB but can be expandable up to 32 GB using microSD card. The back camera is 3.5MP without LED flash and geo tagging feature while there is no front camera. The battery is 1300mAh Li-ion while the connectivity features are microUSB, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and GSM.
Design and Quality
The design of the Galaxy Young 2 is almost similar to Galaxy Fame except the screen. The size of the Young 2 is smaller than that of Galaxy Fame. It is very comfortable to be held in one hand. Though Samsung has always been criticized for the plastic material used for its devices but this material is good for mid-range devices. The build quality is not comparable to all expensive handsets of Samsung. The leather plastic back is removable the viewing angles of the screen are very poor. The screen is even worse looking than that provided in Sony Xperia E1 and Motorola Moto E.
OS and Tech
The OS it runs on is Android v4.4.2 KitKat along with a custom interface. It has been observed that the customized UI on top of the OS is quite confusing and slow but it has been improved by Samsung and now there is a very clear home screen with simple menus for apps and helps a lot in customization of interface.
Camera and Multimedia
The camera provided to it is very basic. The 3.5MP rear camera is there without LED light. While, the front camera is also missing. So it doesn’t afford any selfies or video calls. The camera shutter is also lagging so the camera app is not at all interesting along with this app takes some time to boot which also disappoints user. There no other modes to play with images in it. It only offers Panorama mode along with some basic filters to make the images sepia or black and white. The still images taken by it are rubbish. The details are almost vanished in them. The camera is actually a selfie camera but here it works as the main camera. The videos recorded by it are also of poor quality which looks equally bad on its screen.
Battery and Memory
The phone is equipped with 1300mAh battery which is not going to give any better life to the device. Though it helps in giving full day use but it is worthless in the presence of poor screen and the slow performance of the phone. The battery life is fair but not very great and is for sure not better than what is being provided in Sony Xperia E1 and Motorola Moto E. The RAM is too limited, 512MB RAM may not serve the purpose in this case and an upgrade to at least 1GB RAM is required. The internal storage is also very limited as 4GB storage is not at all enough to keep many apps on device but the extension is a good thing which helps in raising the memory up to 32GB which is then quite reasonable memory extension.

Verdict
Samsung had stopped manufacturing low end and budget devices a while ago but with this Galaxy Young 2 it has been proved that Samsung is still not serious about mid-range devices. This device is worse in every aspect than all mid-range devices available in market from other companies like Huawei, Sony and Motorola. This device has only one advantage, it is quite small and is perfect for the use of children. Rest all features are almost rubbish. If it is a phone for the children, then it is acceptable but if this device is for elders than for sure this is a failed invention from Samsung.
