The Intex Aqua Star Power is the company's another attempt to provide a good smartphone at a very low price.  Users always prefer a long battery backup phone and this is made to do just that. It also has a very good camera. These two features sets it apart from rest of the phones in the same range like Moto G (2nd Gen), Huawei Honor Holly, Xiaomi Redmi 2.  It also comes with a few per installed third party apps. Another distinguishable feature of this phone is its light weight and a quad-core processor which provides a good usage performance.

Features and Specifications

This phone runs the KitKat Android OS. It is a light phone weighing just 160 grams.  It has an 8 MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera for taking selfies. It has a 4.5 inch display which is not HD. This phone houses a 1.3 G Hz quad core processor which gives a very good performance and supports high end applications.  The processor is supported with 1GB of RAM which makes multitasking smooth.  It is a Dual SIM phone with only 1 SIM having GSM support while the other supports WCDMA.  It comes with all the required sensors such as the proximity sensor, accelerometer and light sensors which are useful for running many applications smoothly. It has an internal storage capacity of 8 GB and is expandable up to 32 GB. The Aqua star's eye catching feature is its large 3000 mAh battery which gives a long lasting charge.

Quality and Design

The aqua star power has a sleek rectangular body with all four rounded edges. It comes in 3 pleasant colors: black, blue and grey. It has a flat back panel which seems a bit difficult to hold. However, the back panel has a matt finish that makes this phone look good. There are 3 capacitive touch buttons at the bottom of the screen. The camera is placed at the top-centre of the back panel. Below which is a power LED flash. The power button is present on the right panel while the volume rockers are present on the left. This phone has an overall simplistic design and light weight which feels comfortable while using it.

OS and Tech

This phone runs the KitKat version of Android OS. Though it isn't the latest, it sure is a recent version which means that there is a lot of optimizations for phone usage and gives more performance for lesser power consumption. The phone comes inbuilt with a set of games of good titles like modern combat and real football. There are other apps like Flipkart, Ola, opera, Saavn etc. Though many might find this useful, there might be apps which are a hindrance to the user than the user actually benefiting from it.

Camera and Multimedia

This phone comes with an 8 MP primary camera which is capable of taking very good pictures. The secondary camera is 2MP which is good for video chatting or video conferencing and takes fair selfies. But clarity of pictures from the secondary camera isn't that great. The display isn't HD. The screen has a resolution of 854 x 480 and the viewing angles aren’t that great.  It has inbuilt support for video and audio multimedia files.

This phone has a large long lasting battery. The 3000 mAh battery which provides a talk time of around 10 hours. It comes with an internal storage capacity of 8 GB which is more than most of the phones in this range. It can also be expanded using micro SD card up to 32 GB. The 1 GB RAM is sufficient for running most of the applications and games. The RAM combined with the powerful processor provides the user with pleasant usage experience with no lag.

For Pros:

For Cons:

·         Secondary Camera is a slight disappointment for taking selfies

·         Video viewing angle is less.

·         Only one of the 2 SIM has GSM support.

Verdict

This is a good low range phone that gives the best features for its price. This isn't a phone for people who require very good selfies but it is perfect for those who seek to use a phone for a long time without the battery dying soon. This phone easily competes with other phones in the same range.
