Alcatel OneTouch Pop C5
Alcatel OneTouch Pop C5 Mobile Price in India
The French major, Alcatel is making attempts at tapping the great Indian smartphone market that is sure to generate huge revenues in the coming years. In their One Touch series, they have launched another phone, the Pop C5. The Pop C5 is aimed at the low range smartphone users who wish for an enhanced experience without shelling out a lot of money. Alcatel is aiming for that particular segment whose population in India is huge.
Features and Specifications
The GSM dual SIM smartphone comes with a TFT capacitive touchscreen display. The 4.5 inch screen has a resolution of 480X854 pixels with a ppi density of 218 and a capability of showcasing 16 million colours. It is a multi-touch screen supporting up to 2 fingers. The touch is smooth and responsive. It has a v4.0 Bluetooth and v2.0 microUSB. It also has Wi-Fi direct and hotspot technologies which is impressive considering the price. It also supports 3G network, GPS and stereo FM radio. It also comes equipped with an accelerometer, proximity sensor and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The features are marvellous for a phone in this price range.
Design and Build
The phone measures 131.5X67.9X11.5 mm. At 11.5 mm, it is a little thick by current standards. It weighs 157 g with a screen to body ratio of just 62.5%. The weight is abit on the higher side while the body could have been smaller. The body is rounded with three navigation buttons at the bottom in the front panel. The top has the front camera lens and the proximity sensor. The back has the rear camera, loudspeaker and the Alcatel one touch logo. The phone comes in only white colour. The phone disappoints with its average looks.
OS and Tech
The phone runs on a 1.3 GHz dual core processor which does a fine job. It has a RAM of only 512 MB which is a little less keeping in mind other phones and current usage standards where multitasking is the need of the hour. On the OS part, it runs on android v4.2 Jellybean which is out dated to say the least. With 2 new android versions already being launched, Jellybean looks old and slow. Clearly the phone could have done a lot better in the performance department.
Camera and Multimedia
A rear camera of 5 MP that can click at a resolution of 2592X1944 pixels with LED flash looks a bit insufficient. It has features like geo tagging and records 480p videos at 30 fps. The secondary camera is VGA which should be a huge disappointment to the selfie lovers out there. The phone is Java enabled and supports facilities like SMS, MMS, Email, IM and audio-video playback. It can also play both WAV and MP3 ringtones. The camera is surely disappointing.
Battery and Storage
It has LI-ion battery with a capacity of 1800 mAh. It has a standby time of 400 h on 2G and 392 h on 3G network with a talk time of 7h 30 min on 2G and 4 h on 3G. The battery should last a day under normal usage. The internal memory provided is 4 GB which is standard in today’s phones. A customary external microSD card slot has also been provided which can support cards of up to 32 GB. The phone performs up to expectations in this segment except its low RAM.

Verdict
While the phone isn’t bad considering its price, it suffers considerably in some departments of utmost priority like RAM, Camera and body looks. Its saving grace is its battery, connectivity features and sturdy processor. Other phones like Microsoft Lumia 435, Samsung Galaxy Star Pro Duos and Micromax Bolt A67 will not let Alcatel have it easy. It wouldn’t be too wise a choice to buy this phone considering the better deals that could be obtained at a similar price with other much recognised brands.
