This is a big phone having rounded edges providing firm grip to the device. People having small hands though may be facing problem in holding this device. Beneath the screen, there are on-screen controls but the screen is not full HD which should have been as other devices of having this much screen are. The OS is not the updated version of OS in this device but the phone works fine even with this device. It provides swift performance of the device. There is Huawei’s own Custom Emotion Lite UI on top of the OS and this UI is the fresh invention of the company providing many themes to be selected by the user.

Camera and Multimedia

A mid-range phone carrying 13MP camera is very interesting. Though the images generated from the camera are not of good quality but the images are quite soft carry blurry edges and the details are also lost. The colors of the images are also dull even then the pictures are presentable for those images taken under good light conditions. The low light photos are not at all good. The video recording can be done with both the front and back camera allowing 1080p resolution with rear camera and 720p with front camera. The front camera is also able to take smooth images.

Battery and Memory

The 4050 mAh battery keeps its promise of providing 25hrs of mobile use on single charge. As per the claims of the company, this battery can easily provide 25hrs of talk time and this is not bad for a mid-range device. The larger screen also eats up quite a lot of power but the power saving feature helps in preserving battery to great extent which is a plus point here. Overall the battery is not bad at all. The 2 GB RAM is the reason of the comparable performance of the device while the internal 16 GB memory capable enough to be expanded is also a good feature and people may like this device for these features.

There are some features in Huawei Ascend Mate 2 which make it an attractive device and makes it a good priced Android phone having large size. There is though very tough competition among mid-range devices and this phone is good than ZTE Iconic Phablet and Samsung Galaxy Mega. The other strong competitor is Nokia Lumia 1320 having good hardware but the screen is smaller than this one along with lower internal storage. So Huawei Ascend Mate 2 is giving tough competition to many good names besides having interesting UI thus this can be a good choice for almost all users.
