iBall is making quick strides in the Indian smartphone market and have come up with another smartphone that caters to the Indian middle class that wants to buy smartphone at affordable prices. iBall has launched its iBall Andi Uddaan Mini at very reasonable price. At this price, there are only a handful of credible smartphone and iBall has made an attempt to tap this segment of the market with their Andi Uddaan Mini that is powered by a 1 GHz quad core processor.
Features and Specifications
iBall’s Andi Uddaan Mini is a touch screen GSM dual SIM dual standby smartphone. It has a 4 inch capacitive touch screen having a WVGA display. The resolution is 800X480 pixels. The touch is smooth and super responsive. However, by current standards, the screen size may be a bit small for some users. The phone supports both 2G and 3G networks. It is Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and USB enabled. It comes equipped with GPRS and EDGE connectivity along with GPS support. It has business features and supports the usual technologies like call waiting, call forwarding and loud speaker. Its key feature however is an SOS button that is at the back of the panel below the primary camera that is mainly meant for women safety. On pressing it, a siren rings alerting people around and sends a pre-defined message to five emergency contacts.
Design and Build
The Andi Uddaan Mini comes in two colours, black and white. The phone is bar shaped with rounded edges and a curved top and bottom. Three navigation buttons are provided below the screen with the central one being a large white button. The top includes a proximity sensor and a secondary camera. On the side panel, it has a volume key and a power button. The phone’s small size makes it easy to hold and carry around. The phone’s curved body grips well in the hand and its texture gives a nice feel to it. In the looks department, the phone does a satisfactory job.
OS and Tech
Uddaan Mini runs on the new android v4.4.4 KitKat. The KitKat OS is smooth in operation and has some exciting new features which are bound to give the users a hassle free experience. It is powered by a robust quad core processor chip clocking at 1 GHz. It has a RAM of 1 GB. At such an affordable price, a 1 GB RAM and a quad core processor is nothing short of a lottery. Performance wise, iBall hasn’t left any stone unturned in this phone.
Camera and Multimedia
Its primary camera is 8 MP with an LED flash. It includes video recording and records videos in full HD. It comes with important features like digital zoom and auto focus. The selfie enthusiasts can rejoice on the fact that the phone comes with a secondary camera of 5 MP which is sure to take awesome selfies. One cannot ask more from iBall in terms of the camera features at such an attractive price. The phone comes with all the basic multimedia features like music player, video player and FM radio. It is MMS, Email and IM enabled too. It also has a loudspeaker of sound quality.
Battery and Storage
Not much about the battery has been revealed by the makers. The battery installed in the phone has a capacity of 1450 mAh. The battery is not too impressive as can be seen by its low capacity. This battery can only be expected to last around 12-14 hours under normal usage. Under 3G network or video player usage, it will last even less. The phone makes up in the memory department by providing an internal memory space of 4 GB which can accommodate many apps. The phone has a microSD card slot that can support an external memory of up to 32 GB. Clearly, there is no dearth of available space in the phone.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
· Attractive price
· Powerful Processor
· Ample RAM
· Good front camera
Cons:
· Small screen size
· Poor battery
· Average looks
Verdict
While at its offering price, the phone packs a punch but still it lacks in many aspects. Its weak battery and small screen size will hinder its market sales. It will face stiff competition from other phones in the same price range like Xiaomi Redmi 1s, Videocon Infinium Z50 Nova and Lava Iris 350 M. If all you want from your phone is high performance at a low cost, this is a phone to go to at such an economical price. For users who wish to make their phone last a day at least with a sufficiently large display, there are other phones that might do the trick but not iBall’s Andi Uddaan Mini.
