Features and Specifications

This device is having 5.0-inch screen with IPC LCD Capacitive Touchscreen technology offering 16M colors. The screen also offers multi-touch capability. The processor is 64-bit 1.5 GHz Quad-core while the RAM is either 2/2GB depending on the version of the device and the internal storage is 8GB which is expandable up to 32GB with the help of microSd card. The OS it supports is Android v4.4 KitKat. The phone is not much bulky weighing 140g. The back camera is 8MP with LED light and other feature like HDR, panorama, geo tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection and autofocus. The front camera is 5MP and performs well for the selfies and video conferencing. The battery of this handset is 2500mAh while numerous connectivity features are also added to it like Wi-Fi, 2G/3G/4G, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, GPS, microUSB and A-GPS.

Design and Quality

The design of the device is not very spectacular though it is a slim handset having large screen. It is available in black color. The front of the device is mostly covered by the 5inch screen and above the screen is the front facing camera, sensor, the speaker and the company logo while below the screen is the three touchscreen buttons. The back of the phone is made up of good quality plastic giving good hold to the device and since it is not much heavy, so it is very easy to carry it in single hand. The back of the phone has the rear camera, an LED light under it, the company logo in the center while the primary large speaker at the bottom. The back cover is removable which reveals the battery, microSD card and the SIM card slots. The top of the phone has the 3.5mm headset jack.

OS and Tech

The latest OS gives the device a flawless and swift performance. There has not yet been observed any lags in the performance of this device and this has been better complemented with powerful 64-bit 1.5 GHz processor and faster RAM.

Camera and Multimedia

Camera here is very average and there is nothing new about the performance of the camera of this device. The back camera works fine under good light but loses performance under low light. The LED light works well and provides nice support to night time photography but still there is not much perfectness in the quality of the pictures produced both under good and poor light conditions. The videos though are of better quality than the pictures but they also lack the actual colors of the scenes. The front camera performance is better than the rear camera and is very well be used for the selfies and the video calls while the result of its performance is above average.

Battery and Memory

2500mAh battery in this case is not very bad though some people would consider it lesser as compared to other mid-range devices like the Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact and the Gionee Marathon M3 but this battery is capable enough to take the phone working for one whole day under moderate use. The RAM comes in two flavors for two different versions of the device which are quite decent for any midrange smartphone. The internal storage is 8GB which can easily be extended up to 32GB using the microSD card and this is not bad either.

Verdict

Asus though always tries to bring in originality in its design in particular but this time the design of X002 is not very attractive and it is thought that attention was not given while designing this handset. All the features included in this handset are very mediocre and there is nothing very stunning or attractive about the device. This doesn’t means, this is a bad invention. This is a very decent handset with very decent specification especially the latest OS and the large screen and good battery life. People who go for better features need to then deviate to other handsets at the cost of more prices while this device is quite cheap with better features.
