Samsung Galaxy J1 Mobile Price in India
Another affordable smartphone from Samsung is also released by the name Samsung Galaxy J1L. This device feels no difference from its Samsung’s other versions but it is very common to follow designs of ancestors. The only interesting thing about this handset is that it is a low-end device having powered by 64-bit processor. It is expected that the main target of this device would be the emerging markets like India where it would gain much attention of the users who are fascinated by low and mid-range devices as they come at affordable cost and good features.
Features and specifications
This is quite a light weighted handset as it weighs 122g and is a dual SIM supporting phone. The screen is little smaller than the previous devices of Samsung as here it is 4.3-inch which is build up using TFT Capacitive Touchscreen Technology producing 16M colors and also offers multi-touch. It has been given a latest OS Android v4.4.4 KitKat and the processor is 1.2GHz dual-core. 512MB of RAM is provided to this handset which though is less but ok for a low end device. Internal storage in this case is 4GB but this can be upgraded up to 128GB using microSD card. This device also carries two camera, the rear one is of 5MP with a single LED light and other modes like autofocus, face detection, geo tagging and touch focus. It can record videos at 720pi while the front camera is 2MP. 1850mAh Li-ion battery is provided to this handset and some of the good connectivity features are also provided like microUSB, GPS, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and GSM.
Design and Quality
It has a new rounded design. It is available in blue, white and black colors. Towards the left hand side of the device is the volume rocker. There is a bit of chrome finish at the front of the device. At the top there is 3.5mmm headset jack. At the right hand side is the power button. At the bottom are the primary microphone and the microUSB port. The back of the handset is made up of plastic which is not of very good quality which carries the speaker phone, rear camera and the LED light all in one line while the Samsung logo below them. The back doesn’t have the mate finish but it equally is not much slippery and one can easily have good grip of the device. Removing the back cover will reveal the removable battery, microSD card and two SIM cards slots. The front of the phone has the front facing camera and some sensors at the top of the screen while at the bottom there are two touchscreen button and one physical home button in the center. The navigation button doesn’t light up. The screen is not full HD though it has good viewing angles and the color saturation is also nice.
OS and Tech
The latest OS has been provided to this handset having unique Samsung own interface over its top. The OS is quite latest and there is notification of an upgrade to Lollipop from the company by now. The performance of the device is quite robust with this OS but there have been little lags observed on the touchscreen response.
Camera and Multimedia
Back camera works fine but the images produced by it lack original colors and saturation though they don’t look bad at all. The LED light works its job very nicely under low light but still the images are grainy under low light. The video recorded by it are of better quality. The front camera is better and works for selfies with just little tap on the device.
Battery and Memory
The battery here is not bad considering the size of the screen which also carries brightness control features giving power saving facility. So this battery can let the device live up for 24hrs under moderate use. 512MB RAM is a total disappointment while the 4GB of internal storage is also lee but the extension is too much for a low-end device like Galaxy J1.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Good build design
· Latest OS
· Good screen
· Good battery
· Affordable price
For Cons:
· Average camera
· Low RAM
· Low internal storage
Verdict
Galaxy J1L is not a bad choice but the price it has been offered at is little expensive for the features it is carrying. There are much better devices at this price, especially those of Motorola. Samsung need to move ahead towards better specification devices which are more attractive for the users otherwise it will not be possible for it to stand in the tough competition in the fast growing smartphone market. Some features in this phone are good but they don’t worth the price this set has been offered at. Overall this is not a bad option.
