Spice Stellar 440
Score
Spice Stellar 440 Mobile Price in India
Although Spice smartphones is not a brand name phone manufacturer, they certainly have a lot to offer. The Stellar 440 is one of their fantastic products, which comes with surprising build quality and design. This phone is a testament to what Spice can come up with for a very low cost. With decent specs and a great visual aesthetic, this phone should definitely be considered as a potential buy.
Features and Specifications
With support for two SIM cards (GSM + GSM), you can keep your professional and personal life separate. The screen is a touchscreen which operates on capacitive technology. It is 320 x 480 pixels in resolution, and has a size of 4 inches. This phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat, which is a nice newer Android OS. The processor is a little bit underpowered as a 1GHz dual core. There is absolutely no internal memory, which is not too surprising, as Spice really had to draw back a lot of the specs to make a phone like this for such a low cost. However, you can use a microSD card to get 32GB storage on this phone. The battery also had to be downgraded and comes in at a mere 1400mAh. The camera is a 3.2MP, with the secondary camera coming in at 1.3MP. Connectivity is decent, with 2G, 3G, WIFI, USB connectivity, and Bluetooth. There are some additional features which come with this phone, such as an Analog TV, Spice Cloud, Play Store, VAS Apps, Calendar, Calculator, and an Alarm.
Design and Quality
The design and quality is the redeeming aspect of this phone. If it wasn’t for this and the price, the phone would be very bad. The design is a very sleek all black in the middle, which two grey bars on the top. This gives it a very complete and elegant style that you normally don’t see on phones of this price point. The quality is also extremely good, with the phone being very study and comfortable in the hands.
OS and Tech
The Android 4.4 KitKat operating system is perfect for this phone. KitKat brought about some fantastic performance updates which drastically reduce Android’s CPU requirements. For this reason, it is great to see this technology on an otherwise substandard processor. Talking about processors, the CPU in this phone is a 1GHz dual core. While this isn’t that great of a processor, it’s pretty great when you consider the price, and that this phone is an extremely budget smartphone.
Camera and Multimedia
The cameras are OK. The main camera is 3.2MP, which should be able to take pictures of decent quality, but definitely nothing special. The secondary camera is 1.3MP, which doesn’t really have that much of an impact on the phone because this camera is mainly for selfies and pictures of that sort. Thankfully, there is video recording and digital zoom supported with this phone. Multimedia is great, with a music and video player in addition to an FM radio.
Battery and Memory
The 1400mAh battery capacity seems a little bit too low for a phone like this. Unfortunately, there have been no battery benchmarks done for this device, so we don’t currently know how long it should last. The memory situation in the Spice Stellar 440 is not too great, as there is absolutely no internal memory. This is somewhat forgivable, as Spice needed to cut back on certain costs to deliver a phone like this, and there is also a microSD slot for 32GB of storage.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Very decent price
· Fantastic design
· Decent camera
· Good connectivity
· Dual SIM support
For Cons:
· No internal storage, although you can use a 32GB microSD card
· Screen is quite bad
· The battery might pose some troubles
Verdict
This phone was made for a very specific subsection of the phone market. If you are not a power user and can live with 1400mAh, if you either don’t need any internal storage or you have an SD card, and if you are just a casual user not too concerned with the screen and such, this phone could be for you. It is a very good choice if you meet the aforementioned criteria, as the cost is extremely low, and the design is impeccable. If you are the kind of person who would be willing to purchase a standard phone (non-smartphone), consider spending a little bit more on this, it might be worth it.
