Celkon Campus A42 Pro
Celkon Campus A42 Pro Mobile Price in India
As each day passes by there seem to be more and more mobile phone brands appear in the market, each promising to give the best value for your money deals. Celkon is another such example of one those brands, the company is no stranger to producing a budget smartphones and over the passage of time it has become quite influential on its rivals like Micromax Mobiles and Karbonn Mobiles. The Celkon Campus A42 is the exact interpretation of that the phone is loaded with all the features like a 4inch touchscreen a 5 megapixels camera and android at a very reasonable price.
Features and Specifications:
The Celkon Campus A42 Pro comes loaded with a 4inch IPS capacitive touchscreen. The screen has a resolution 480x800 and a pixel density of 233 pixels per inch, which in this price range is unmatchable. The screen has some decent viewing angles and seems to do the job fine in bright sunlight. But sadly same cannot be said for the processor or the memory department of the phone, bearing a dual core processor and it clocks in at 1.3 GHz and 512 MB ram without any backing up from a GPU as there isn’t one. The phone has 4 GB ROM and has a micro SD card slot which can expanded up to 32 GB, which you will be needing since the internal storage is low. The Celkon Campus A42 pro is a dual sim smartphone and joy of joys it supports 2 G and 3 G connectivity, further on the phone has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a micro USB port. The A42 pro has 5 megapixels primary camera at the back and upfront we have a 1.3 megapixel camera.
Design and Quality:
The Celkon Campus A42 pro is enclosed in a rather funky looking a body, the back cover is available is four different eye catching colors (red, blue, white and yellow). There are a lot of phones in this price range which try too hard to cover up their cheap price tags, but Celkon Campus A42 has a very honest approach to its design. The phone looks quite good and all the panels fit nicely and feel good to hold in the hand. Upfront we see that most of the front is the 4inch touchscreen which covers 57.6% of the phone, below the screen we see the stock android style capacitive navigation buttons and above the screen we see that the secondary camera and sensors hide below the glass covering and the earpiece is right above that we have the ear piece. Going towards the back side of the phone we find that the plastic cover really does feel plastic but it’s not a bad thing especially considering that it takes a lot abuse from daily use and if you get bored of the color just pop on another color. The primary camera is located on the top center of the phone and the right below it we see the LED flash. The rest of the back side is fairly empty except for the Celkon monogram at the lower end and a rather funky looking loud speaker slit at the bottom right corner. The volume rocker and the power button are located on the left hand side of the phone. All in all a very good looking phone and definitely designed to attract the younger population of the consumer market.
OS and Tech:
Though many of the smartphone now seem to be moving to Android Lollipop the Campus A42 pro still seem to come box standard with not KitKat but it rather sadly comes with Jellybean, which as we all now know is pretty soon going to get obsolete, if not already. Other phones in the market are present which offer the newer version of android in the same price like the Philips S308 and the Gionee Pioneer P2.
Camera and Multimedia:
The smartphone is loaded with a 5 megapixels primary camera and the secondary is a humble 1.3 megapixel sensor. The camera has Geotagging capability and the picture quality is pretty decent, with one of the best secondary camera for the price range. The screen also seems to do a very good job and doesn’t have many bad viewing angles but still it was pretty competitive to its rivals.
Battery and Memory:
The battery of Celkon Campus A42 is not the best one in the market at just 1400 mAh, it is claimed to give up to 5 hours of talk time. In the real world you will need to put on charge at least once even for a little while if you don’t want this phone to bail on you anytime during the day. The phone also has a low ram compared and a smaller ROM at just 4 GB but the micro SD card slot can regain that lost hope since it can house a card of up to 32 GB.
Pros and Cons:
For Pros:
· Nice funky design
· Good Camera
· Affordable price
For cons:
· Small Ram and Rom
· Bad battery timing
· The OS is Android Lollipop (now obsolete)
The Verdict:
The Celkon Campus A42 is a very desirable phone, the Gionee Pioneer P2 does come loaded with a better OS or the XOLO Q900 may come with a bigger screen and a better camera but none of them can give what this phone is able to give at this price. The phone looks better the Pioneer P2 and is cheaper than the XOLO, so thus the verdict for this phone is definitely, YES.
