Features and Specifications

The screen size of this device is 5.5-inch full HD screen having resolution of 1080x1920p and a 401p pixel density. This has been powered by the Octa-core 64 bit Snapdragon processor and 2GB RAM. OS here is Android v5.0 Lollipop along with HTC UI Skin. It has 16GB internal built-in memory which is expanded further up to 128GB using microSD card. The rear camera is 13MP with an LED light while the front one is 4ultra pixel. Talking about the connectivity features, it has 2G/3G, Bluetooth, LTE, Wi-Fi, microUSB and dual SIM support. Battery is 2600mAh.

Design and Quality

In terms of design and shape, this device is very similar to all Desire 800 series handsets. The build quality is similar to Desire 816 as well as 820 but somehow the design of this handset is little disappointing. This disappointment is due to little changes in the design from its basic theme. The best example of this can be seen in the placement of speakers here, now the speakers are hidden in the crevices. Volume rocker and power button are also hidden towards right hand side and not easy to press due to having similar color. The device has 183g of weight. The back is glossy and slippery and thus is not easy to get hold of the device. The material use for its manufacturing is plastic but is of decent quality but due to slippery finish, a case is recommended for it. The screen of the device is very good as it is very much bright and visible comfortably under sunlight.

OS and Tech

Very latest OS has been provided in this device which has been given considerable support from very powerful processor and heavy RAM. Multitasking and other performance of the device is very good with this latest OS and no laps have been observed.

Camera and Multimedia

13MP camera has been provided at rear side which was expected to be good but this is not the case here. The camera is not good as Desire 826. The images produced by this camera have over saturated colors and mostly out of focus and if the camera tried to focus, the level of contrast in colors become highly out of control. The noise though is very minimal but under low light, the noise is very much clear. The front camera also suffers from similar issues. The videos recorded by the camera also have similar issues.

Battery and Memory

Having 2600mAh battery it was expected that it would give good run to the device but this battery doesn’t provide 24hrs of the device use but to having power saving capability, this can easily last for whole day which is a good thing but under heavy use, the battery drops considerably. RAM is very good here which bring quick performance of the device while the internal storage and the expansion to it is also very commendable.

Verdict

The HTC Desire series of phones are considered as market leaders in smartphone markets. They are generally considered as good option in every category when comparing it with other heavy brands. The same goes for the Desire 826 for having decent specifications though on paper but when it comes to using it, little disappointment can be observed, due to which this may not be considered as the best phone in 800 series. The performance which this device offers can be found in other devices at much lower cost like Xiaomi Mi 4 and OnePlus One and here this device loses its worth.
