This device holds 1.7GHz Octa-core processor along with 2GB RAM. The internal storage is 16GB which can easily be expanded further using microSD card up to about 32GB. It has decent connectivity options including microUSB, Bluetooth, LTE, Wi-Fi, 3G/4G. The OS is Android v4.4 KitKat along with Vibe UI2.0 as interface. The rear camera is 13MP while the front one is 5MP. The rear camera is supported by LED flashlight. Battery in this device is 4000mAh while the screen is 5inch large of type IPS capacitive touchscreen offering 16M colors depiction. The specifications are quite decent in first glance but their performance has to be tested.

Design and Quality

The chassis around the device is of plastic but it gives the premium look and this is the most fascinating thing about Lenovo devices. The design looks similar to Sony Xperia. The back of the device has rounded edges. Towards the front are the normal three navigation touch buttons which are not part of screen. Towards the top, there is tiny inscription of Lenovo, with front camera, proximity sensor, earpiece and the ambient light sensor. The back of the device is sleek and has an embossed silver color logo of the company. The back also has rear camera along with LED light towards the top left corner. The back of the device is heavily prone to fingerprints. Towards the left is nothing while towards the right are the power button and volume rocker. Towards the bottom are the speaker, integrated microphone and a microUSB port while the 3.5mm headset jack is located at the top along with a second microphone. The weight of the device is 150g which is quite good and doesn’t make it too heavy. The back reveals the battery and two MicroSIM slots and microSD card slot. The viewing angles of the screen are decent and resolution is also good enough.

OS and Tech

The device is loaded with Android v4.4 KitKat OS and the exclusive Lenovo interface. The OS is latest enough and provides decent multitasking. With the good support of powerful processor and high RAM, the performance of the phone is also very nice without any laps being observed. All the apps on the device are placed on main screen as in iOS which gives a total different look from its classical look.

Camera and Multimedia

The 13MP rear camera is decent enough having different modes of capturing images. The color depiction under good light is very decent in the pictures but under low light, there is some noise observed while under good light conditions, the images are quite bright and without noise. This is also capable of recording full HD videos. The videos also suffer from same issue, they are better in quality under good light but the quality gets faded under low light. The front camera however is produces decent quality selfies and good for the video chats.

Battery and Memory

Battery does make its impression. The 4000mAh battery is not commonly found for the 5-inch screen devices. The battery is durable and under heavy use even which includes the heavy internet surfing, heavy games and videos playing, calls and video calls, the battery was still able to last for 11hrs and this is no doubt a much decent result. Under moderate use, the battery may last for 2 days very easily. The RAM is very good here while the internal 16GB storage is also decent along with decent expansion through microSD card.

Verdict

This is a superb device from Lenovo. But there are some issues still attached to it which require attention but the company claims that those issues are due to software and through software updates, these issues will get resolved. If these issues are resolved, this is going to be a best device in mid-range devices and is ready to give tough competition to device like Xiaomi Redmi 1S and Asus ZenFone 4.
