Rage OPS 80Q Mobile Price in India
In the recent surge of Indian smart phone market, we witnessed many a rising brands. One of them is Rage Mobiles, which developed in our native country. This company is famous for manufacturing and providing feature rich handsets at a reasonable price. Rage is giving a tough competition to rival brands like Micromax, Lenovo, LG Mobilesetc. The Rage OPS 80Q is an entry level smart phone, and it left me a little surprised as it is a little expensive than most of Rage phones. So let's take a look at what Rage is providing us at this price.
Features and Specifications
The Rage OPS 80Q is a GSM dual SIM smart phone with a large 5" capacitive Quad HD touch screen. Though being HD, the display has a lower resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, which is a bit saddening. This 3G enabled smart phone is equipped with an 8 MP rear camera. The camera has features like auto-focus and touch focus which is a real plus point. There is an LED flash just underneath the camera lens for low light photography assistance. The rear camera has the ability to record videos at 540 pixels. Although the camera performs well in daylight, the night time performance is a bit poor. The phone has a front facing 2 MP camera for making video calls and clicking selfies. The phone is rigged with a 1.2 GHz Quad core processor running on a Mediatek 6589 chipset. This handset comes with Android v4.2.1 Jelly Bean loaded which is a little disappointing. The phone has an internal storage capacity of 4 GB, again which is a little low than anticipated. The storage space can be expanded externally up to 32 GB. The phone is equipped with a 512 MB RAM which is lower than what we expected. Rage OPS 80Q draws its power from a 2000mAh battery pack which, as claimed by Rage, is enough to provide a talk time of 4 hours and standby time up to 110 hours. Please note that this phone only supports mini-SIM. Moreover the phone features a large set of sensors like light, proximity and gravity sensor along with top notch features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB, A-GPS etc.
Design and Quality
The Rage OPS 80Q comes in only one color, black. The black color compliments the design of the phone and gives it a sophisticated look. The phone features a clean design with round edges. The dimensions of the phone are, 142 x 72.2 x 9.9 mm. The phone is a bit thick which certainly increases its weight but also gives you an overall good grip over it while carrying it around on hand. The build quality of this set is pretty good, and I expect it to last a long time. Moreover the phone is well designed to fit any pocket and to carry around.
OS and Tech
The phone features Android v4.2.1 Jelly Bean, which is a tad bit disappointing since I expected a slightly updated version of the OS. Still considering the specification this phone has the phone will be able to run more smoothly and efficiently on the said platform. Technology wise the phone is pretty updated and provides a tough challenge to its competitors.
Camera and Multimedia
As mentioned beforehand the Rage OPS 80Q features an 8 MP rear camera with an LED flash present just beneath it. The camera supports auto-focus and touch focus and it is stuffed with advanced features like face detection, panorama shot etc. It is also able to shoot videos at 540 pixels. The front 2 MP camera is perfect for taking selfies and participating in video chat sessions. Although Rage put in much effort in providing an improved camera, the quality of the images of both cameras suffer a little in night time or in low light as a whole. The 5" Quad HD display of this phone has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels which is a little lower. Still being an IPS display it delivers sharp and crisp images and videos, and has a wide viewing angle. The screen is multi-touch enabled, and supports up to 5 fingers.
Battery and Memory
The phone is rigged with a 2000mAh battery pack which is not expected to last anymore than 4 hours if you are constantly using the phone. As the battery drains out pretty fast you will have to charge the phone 2-3 times a day to keep the phone active. The phone has 4 GB ROM which is pretty low but very common in this price segment. The phone has microSD card slot which enables you to upgrade the memory up to 32 GB. The phone is equipped with a 512 MB RAM, which will not be enough to run games on highest quality.
Pros and Cons
Pros
· Good design
· Great processor and chipset
· Brilliant overall features
Cons
· Small RAM
· Low ROM capacity
· Lack of a better version of Android OS
· A bit overpriced
· Low screen resolution
Verdict
The Rage OPS 80Q is a handset which has great overall features but lacks some advanced features. So it can be said that it is jack of all trades but master of none. The phone is rigged with only 512 MB RAM, so you will not able to play high fps games and watch HD movies. Still it will be able to handle day-to-day work pretty well but there will always be a chance of hanging and a larger start-up time. But if we consider the price bracket its competitors like Lenovo S720, Micromax Canvas XL A119, and LG Optimus Hub E510 are providing the same features. So it is expected that this phone will be able to perform quite good in the market.
