But do not get sad because Lava promised Android v5.0 Lollipop upgrade! Along with this the phone is equipped with 512 MB RAM. The RAM is a bit lower than I expected but is pretty common in this price range. Moreover the phone comes with a 5 MP rear camera. Though the camera lacks advanced features like auto-focus, touch focus etc, the camera is quite good. The rear camera has an LED flash just underneath it. The camera can take good images in daylight but the images taken in low light suffer in terms of quality. The smart phone is also rigged with a front facing VGA camera, ideal for making voice calls. The fixed focus front camera may not be a good selfie taker. The phone features 4 gigs of ROM or internal storage space. The storage memory can be expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card. The phone is powered by a 1750mAh battery pack, which is not expected to last long. Overall the phone is quite brilliant feature wise and certainly is a good for a tight budget.

Design and Quality

The Lava Iris X1 Atom is a set which has been designed to perfection. Although the phone resembles a bit of Apple iPhone 4, the look is really good. The dimensions of the phone are 125.5 x 63.4 x 9.65 mm. So you can notice the phone is a little bit thick which adds up additional weight. Surprisingly the phone only weighs 120 g which is pretty low, and makes it one of Lava's light weight handsets. There are touch buttons under the display for added navigation and control purposes. The phone features springy side buttons which are made to last long. Overall the build is comparatively better than handsets of this price range. So it gets a plus point when taking design and build quality in consideration.

OS and Tech

This smart phone features Android v4.4 KitKat which was a little disappointing to hear at first. But Lava make up to it by guaranteeing Android v5.0 Lollipop update for this phone. The phone is expected to run faster and smoother on the updated Lollipop OS. The phone features a 1.2 GHz Quad core processor which will handle the OS pretty well. Moreover the phone is equipped with latest technologies to run brilliantly fast, which is an added benefit.

Camera and Multimedia

The Lava Iris X1 Atom is equipped with a 5 MP fixed focus rear camera, which is not that good quality wise but if you take the price into consideration then it is a fair deal. The camera lacks advance features like auto focus and touch focusing. The camera also does not support Geotagging, auto HDR etc. An LED flash is present to take pictures at night, but due to poor ISO of the camera, it cannot take high quality images at night. The front facing 0.3 MP VGA camera is suitable for taking selfies and making video calls. The phone runs on 3G network, so you will be able to make flawless video calls with it. The quality of the selfies may suffer a bit. The phone is preloaded with latest audio and video codec to support all popular media files out of the box.

Battery and Memory

The phone draws its power from a 1750mAh battery pack, which will not be enough to run this phone throughout the entire day. So it will be wise to charge it 2-3 times a day to keep it running. The phone is equipped with a 4 GB internal storage space and features a microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 32 GB. The phone is rigged with a 512 MB RAM which will be enough to handle daily work. But HD movie playbacks and high fps games may suffer a bit and lack better performance.

The Lava Iris X1 Atom is handset made for smart phone enthusiasts with tight budget. While Lava tried to put in all the available features in a competitive price range and make it flawless, there might be some flaws in it anyway. But if you compare it with smart phones like Micromax Bolt A067, Karbonn A55 Smart and Intex Aqua Y2 then there is no noticeable difference among them except for Lava Iris X1 Atom playing an upper hand with Android v5.0 Lollipop support.
