Features and Specifications:

The Canvas Play allows you to keep your personal and professional life different with the feature of Dual SIM. The 5.5 inches screen with a decent resolution keeps the entertainment alive. The rear camera is of 5.0 megapixels. He processor too is a decent one, 1.3 GHz Quad core with 1GB RAM. It also shows notifications on the lock screen.

Design and Quality:

The Canvas Play has a big size of 5.5 inches with the resolution of 480 x 854 pixels which is much less than other mobiles like Sony Xperia Z4 (1080 x 1920) or LG Volt (720 x 1280). Though the resolution is less, the screen size is biggest when compared to other mobiles including the two mentioned above. The display is FWVGA with 16M colors. The look of the mobile is a conventional one, with sleek body and curved edges.

OS and Tech:

The operating system of the Canvas Play is the latest Android 5.0, Lollipop version giving you the availability of all the latest applications available on Google Playstore. This latest android is supported by 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor with a RAM of 1GB.  The make of the processor is that of MediaTek MT6582M as compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor provided in Sony Xperia Z4.

Camera and Multimedia:

The rear camera is of 5.0 megapixels with flash allowing you to capture your beautiful memories and preserve them. But, this camera is weaker than other contemporaries like Sony Xperia Z4 (20.7 megapixel) or LG volt (8 megapixel). The front camera is 0.3 megapixels which is very weak. This should have been at least 3.0 megapixel. Due to weak front camera, user is not able to capture self-photos or enjoy the experience of video calling. The rear camera allows for video recording and HD playback. The video formats supported are MP4, 3GPP with resolution of 720p.

Battery and Memory:

The battery is quite strong placed at 2820 mAh. This provides a talk time of 10 hours and the stand by time of 273 hours. The battery is removable giving you the option of replacing the battery whenever needed. The internal memory provided is 8GB which proves enough for the games and movies you need to download. This memory is also expandable up to 32 GB.    

Other Features:

Canvas play comes with Wi-Fi support, GPS, USB connectivity and charging via USB connector. The headset jack is of 3.5 mm. The mobile also comes preloaded with apps like AskMe, Snapdeal, Quikr, Paytm etc. It also has sensors for motion, proximity and light. This mobile comes with a unique flip cover with a conveniently placed window allowing you to see date and time properly. Pin apps is an application allowing you to lock your apps from an external user.    

PROS:

CONS:

·         Poor front camera.

·         Not so good battery life. Needs frequent charging of the battery.

VERDICT:

Micromax CANVAS Play is a dual SIM mobile with regular and micro SIM card supporting GSM on both 2G and 3G networks. The processor is of 1.3GHz Quad core with the support of 1GB RAM. Both the processor and RAM are of moderate strength as compared to Sony Xperia or LG Volt. The processor could have been upgraded to Octa core with a RAM of 2GB. The OS is the best available one in the market, Lollipop version providing an excellent speed to the device. The rear camera is of 5.0 megapixels giving decent picture quality. Battery life is not very long, up to 10 hours of talk time which pushes the user to carry his charger whenever travelling around. The price of this mobile is around 8,000/- which is very reasonable for the features available.
