iBall Avonte 5 Mobile Price in India
iBall has come out time and time again with the type of phones people want like their Senior Line which is targeted solely at older people who have trouble using smart phones. Their desire to bring something fresh to the table is probably the reason why they went ahead and revived the rotating camera found on old Samsung and Nokia mobile phones. The Avonte 5 comes with 8MP camera with dual LED flash which can be rotated to be used as the front or back camera. Some may call it a gimmick but add this with the rest of the features and you may have something the public might choose over other phones.
Features and Specifications
The main feature of this phone is undoubtedly the rotating camera. 8MP and with dual LED flash enabling the camera to be used as both the front and rear camera. The phone has a dual sim function which is not something new these days as every other phone comes with dual sim features. The processor is 1.3GHz Quadcore which at this price range is very good along with 1GB of RAM. The 5 inch display is not HD with just 480 x 854 pixels resolution but does use capacitive touch technology.
Design and Quality
Any phone with bigger bezels will instantly lose the sleek and sexy look with good reason but this phone somehow manages to pull it off probably because the camera at the top manages to catch the eye more than anything. The bezels at the bottoms are disappointingly larger than hoped for as they also contain the capacitive touch keys. The phone comes with only one color option, light brown, which looks quite nice after all the black and white colored phones flooding the market. Build wise this phone uses the same plastic material so common today and thankfully it feels sturdy and high quality to the touch.
OS and Tech
Android KitKat v4.4 is the OS installed in this phone and brings with it all the apps and games at the Google Play Store. The Quadcore processor will ensure the OS has an easier time multitasking while the 1GB RAM should be enough to prevent the phone from crashing due to low memory. The phone has 3G, WiFi, MicroUSB and Bluetooth connectivity features but no NFC. Another great feature of android is the ability to transfer all your important data like contacts and emails from your old phone to the new one using your Gmail account.
Camera and Multimedia
The defining feature of this phone is the camera. It is not often you see a 180 degree rotating 8MP camera on a phone. The nifty thing about this camera is that it is dual purpose meaning since there is one single camera and this camera is the only one you use for both rear and front photos. It has a much better flash that most other phones in the same price range. Dual LED flash makes a noticeable difference in low light and dark situations. The phone comes with pre-installed apps for music and videos but using the online store you can download better ones with wider codec support.
Battery and Memory
At 2150mAh the battery capacity is not ideal especially since it’s of the non-removable type. No details of talk time and standby time are mentioned so we cannot comment on that. The phone has 8GB of internal memory of which not all of 8GB will be available for the user since the phone reserves some space for essential system functions. Thankfully the user will be able to upgrade the memory with the help of a MicroSD card of up to 32GBs.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Camera
· Dual Sim
· 3G
· Quadcore processor
For Cons:
· Display not HD
· Price
· Internal memory too less
Verdict
Undoubtedly the camera is the strong selling point of this phone. 8MP with dual LED flash that rotates to the front and back is perfect for many who love taking pictures. Although it remains to be seen if the phone can stand up to the test of time as far as its rotating parts are concerned. Its rivals the Huawei Ascend G610 and Spice Stellar Mi-520n have a hard time catching up to this phone as they falter in some areas making them fall behind. Media lovers will find this affordable Smartphone a great purchase.
