Zen Sonic 1 Mobile Price in India
The Zen Sonic 1 is a surprising phone to say the least. The specs it boasts at a price around Rs. 5000 is very rare to find these days. There are some shortcomings in the spec list which we will discuss down below. This phone has a lot to live up to considering the price range and specs mean for it to take on the low budget market and carve out a big chunk of market share for the brand. Foreign brands like Samsung, Sony and HTC will not be able to compete and pose no threat so it is really a battle between local brands.
Features and Specifications
The Zen Sonic 1 features a 5 inch display using WVGA IPS tech and capable of a resolution of only 800 x 480 pixels. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad core processor and supported by 2GB of RAM. The camera is 5MP with LED flash support at the rear and 2MP without any flash at the front. The phone has the standard connectivity features like 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS not forgetting the standard 3.5mm Audio jack. The battery capacity is just 2000mAh and we will see how it performs later on below.
Design and Quality
What can be said about the design and quality of a budget level Smartphone. It uses the same durable plastic type material commonly used in phones these days and comes mainly in black color. The bezels are not as slim as one could hope for but then again the phone is not a premium level one. It has three capacitive touch keys at the bottom below the screen and an oddly large camera at the back with the LED flash next to it. Below it is the ZEN logo in silver.
OS and Tech
A high tech OS is what makes a phone into a Smartphone and the Zen Sonic 1 uses Android OS. The firmware is the latest Android Lollipop v5.0 and brings with it many new features and UI changes over the previous v4.4.4 KitKat. Just using this version of Android gives this phone a leg up over its rivals. The OS needs support from the processors and RAM to be able to perform smoothly and here with a 1.3GHz Quadcore processor and 2GB of RAM that is no issue.
Camera and Multimedia
Users who are more into photography will not be impressed with the Zen Sonic 1 carrying just a 5MP camera but at under Rs.5000 you cannot get everything. It manages to take decent photos even though they are not of HD quality and with the LED flash some low light photography is possible even though the low megapixel count doesn't make for high quality results. The front camera at 2MP will take okay selfies and is used best for standard video chatting instead of image capture. Though the screen is a nice 5 inches the videos you play on it won't look as amazing because the pixel resolution is not HD.
Battery and Memory
The Zen Sonic 1 has a battery capacity of only 2000mAh and no information is available of how long the battery life with regards to talk time or standby time is. Since the display doesn't support HD resolution or a high PPI it is safe to say that the battery life won't be so abysmal. The phone has 16GB of internal memory and using a MicroSD card you can increase the available memory by 32 more gigabytes. The RAM is 2GB and much appreciated since it will help ensure smooth running of the OS and UI.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Price
· Quadcore
· Dual Sim
· 3G support
· Lollipop Android
For Cons:
· Battery capacity is too low
· Display is not HD
· Camera could be better
· No separate GPU
Verdict
The budget market is full of phones competing for the top position and every other day new contenders step into the ring to compete as well. Rivals like the Karbonn Titanium S3 and Huawei Ascend Y600 will go up against the Zen Sonic except the specs don't match up to the Zen Sonic 1. The price alone is a deciding factor and budget users will pick the Zen Sonic 1 mainly for the higher specs it carries in the same price range as its rivals.
