Mtech Turbo L5
Mtech Turbo L5 Mobile Price in India
Mtech is not as well known as other local mobile companies in the country. That doesn’t mean that they come out with less than great phones; it just means they need more time to grab a chance to reach that goal. Consider their phone the Mtech Turbo L5, it has dual sim features, a 1.3GHz Quadcore processor, 1GB of RAM, Mali-400 GPU, an 8MP primary camera, 8GB of internal memory and on top of all that has the latest Android OS v5.0 Lollipop. At the Rs.5,999 mark this phone has great specs to surpass many phones.
Features and Specifications
The features of this phone are nothing spectacular when compared to the likes of Samsung Galaxy S6 but bear in mind this phone is selling at lower than Rs.6000 and the specs it boasts off are still great. You have a 1.3GHz Quadcore processor with 1GB of RAM to support it along with a Mali-400 graphics processing unit chip. The display is 5inches and uses capacitive touch while the resolution is limited to 854 x 480 pixels (meaning not High Definition) using FWVGA TFT tech. The 8MP primary camera has a lot of great features including LED flash while the secondary camera at the front is 2MP. The OS on the phone is Android but using a recent version called Lollipop.
Design and Quality
The phone is 72mm wide and 142.6mm long while the thickness is 8.9mm making it not that slim but not that thick either. Lack of big bezels ensures the screen-to-body ratio for the phone is at 66%. The Mtech Turbo L5 sports a bar shape with a curved body for better handling and grip. It is made from a durable plastic type material and does not feel cheap at all. The loudspeaker is found on the back of the phone right next to the 8MP camera and LED flash and underneath the three is the Mtech logo. Below the display we find the three standard capacitive touch screen common in many Android smartphones.
OS and Tech
Many phones in this price range choose Android as their OS but it is mostly v4.4 KitKat or v4.3 Jelly Bean or v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It is refreshing to see the Mtech Turbo L5 come out with v5.0 Lollipop as it not only gives it a much better chance at competing with other phones but provides a much better user experience to whoever buys the phone. The Quadcore processor and 1GB RAM will no doubt do the best possible to give the power required to run the latest android version but seeing as they are supported by a dedicated GPU i.e. Mali-400 it should be alright.
Camera and Multimedia
The 8MP primary camera on this phone comes with LED flash support and a host of great features to utilize in its in-built camera app. Using the app you can take burst photos of up to 40 images, panorama shots, HDR photos, use face detection, voice capture, self timer and face beauty feature. The LED flash feature enables you to also take photos in low light situations. The front camera is 2MP but without any flash support nevertheless it takes satisfactory photos and videos. The phone has support for many video and audio format which can be further increased using downloadable apps from the Play Store due it using Android OS.
Battery and Memory
Even though the phone has a 5 inch capacitive touch screen the Li-Ion battery in the phone is only 2100mAh. The talk time is not impressive at just 6-7 hours while the standby time is decent at 220 hours. Because of the non-HD display we expected a talk time of 10 hours at least since phones with similar screen setups and lower battery capacities were managing 10 hours of talk time. The internal memory is 8GB but will actually be lower since the phone reserves some memory for essential system processes. MicroSD card support is available on the phone of up to 32GB.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Dual Sim
· Android Lollipop
· Camera features
· Quadcore processor & dedicated GPU
· Price
For Cons:
· Display not HD
· Low battery talk time
Verdict
This phone has a lot going for it because of its specs. There are few phones that can compete with it in this range because of the latest OS is sports among other features. Rival phones like XOLO Q710S and Micromax Unite 3 Q372 even just barely manage to beat it but instead lose out on two or three aspects. For under Rs.6000 this is a great phone available in three different colors and looks like a winner from Mtech. Of course that being said does not expect the same level of camera quality from this phone as the 8MP camera of Nokia phones as the latter use better algorithms and Carl Ziess lens.
